Glen Robert Jenkins was born the son of Wallace Jenkins and Leone (Davis) Jenkins on December 28, 1940, in Licking, Missouri, and died September 26, 2016, at Poplar Bluff, Missouri, at the age of 75 years.

He was united in marriage on April 22, 1960, at Alton, Missouri, to Joyce Morris.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Jenkins of the home in Alton, Missouri; four sons, Randal Jenkins and wife, Kelly of Van Buren, Missouri, Kevin Jenkins and wife, Kristie of Batesville, Arkansas, Morris Jenkins and wife, Janine of Gainesville, Missouri and Lyndal Jenkins of Annapolis, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Riley, Jaysa, Brady, Michia, Kessie, Jenna, Landry, and Kamie Jenkins; two sisters, Wylma Heiskell and husband, Jim of Alton, Missouri and LuAnn Jackson and husband, Bob of Columbia City, Oregon; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Leone Jenkins; and one brother, Donald Ray Jenkins.

Glen was active in his community. He served as Mayor for the City of Alton for many years and was also on the Alton City Council. While serving in these positions, he was instrumental in obtaining a grant to build the new Alton Elementary School building. He was a volunteer fire fighter, serving as Fire Chief for a period of time.

He was a member of the Board of Directors for the Oregon County Soil and Water Conservation District for many years.

Glen did custom farm work in Alton and the surrounding areas for numerous years, and was known by the CB handle, “tractor man”.

He will best be remembered for his dedication as a school bus driver for the Alton R-IV School District, driving a total of 51 years. With his kind and gentle nature, Glen earned the respect of the students, as well as that of their parents.

Glen will be remembered for his great love of sports and his devotion to family. He will truly be missed by his family and the community in which he lived.

Funeral services will be Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer.

The body will lie in state at the funeral home on Friday, September 30th from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

Burial will be in Huddleston Cemetery under the direction of Carter Funeral Home in Thayer.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Gideons or the Alton School Foundation. Donations may be left at the Carter Funeral Home.

Ernest Rudolph Franke was born the son of Rudolph Ernest Franke and Callie (Marshall) Franke on August 19, 1939, in Thayer, Missouri, and departed this life September 17 2016, near Imboden, Arkansas, at the age of 77 years.

He was united in marriage on May 30, 1964, in Irving, Texas to Charlotte Harris.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Franke, of the home in Thayer, Missouri; three daughters, Evelyne Franke of Thayer, Missouri, Kimberly Franke of Thayer, Missouri and Jaqulyn Hoes of Blum, Texas; two sons, Jack Franke of Monterey, California and Dan Franke of Plano, Texas; twenty grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph Ernest Franke and Callie Franke; one daughter, Carol Harris; and sister, Henrietta Stone.

Ernest was a college graduate and a civil engineer. He also was a licensed land surveyor.

He was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Thayer. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, dad, granddad and a friend to all.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at 2:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with Pastor Pam Ekey officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home chapel on Tuesday evening, September 20th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

Burial will be in Thayer Cemetery under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.

Mildred Massey was born the daughter of Fred Hatfield and Ethel (Waits) Hatfield on June 29, 1942, in Fulton County, Arkansas, and departed this life on September 17, 2016, in Thayer, Missouri, at the age of 74 years.

She was united in marriage January 27, 1959, at Batesville, Arkansas to Bobby Ray Massey, who preceded her in death on November 16, 1988.

She is survived by three sons, Greg Massey of Sage, Arkansas, David Massey and wife, Paula of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas and Fred Massey of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Dawn Westmoreland, Jawnie Shaw, Tom Massey, Heather Massey, Garrett Massey, A.J. Smith, and Aaron Smith; nine great grandchildren, Peyton, Paislee, Sydney, Perri, Whitley, Layken, Jackson, Maddie, and Molly; one sister, Barbara Bullard of Mountain View, Arkansas; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Ethel Hatfield and husband, Bobby Ray Massey.

Besides being a homemaker, Mildred was a hair-dresser and caregiver for children in this area. She was gifted with a musical talent and will be remembered as organist for Carter Funeral Home for many years.

Mildred was a member of Clifton Free Will Baptist Church. She was deeply devoted to her family, an excellent cook and cherished time spent cooking for them and family get-to-gethers. She will truly be missed by all that knew and loved her.

Private graveside services will be Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Field Creek Cemetery near Mammoth Spring, Arkansas.

The body will lie in state at Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer on Tuesday, from 8:00 AM until 1:00 PM.

Burial will be in Field Creek Cemetery under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.

Robert Dewayne Lacy was born on September 23, 1945 in Kennett, Missouri, and passed away on September 15, 2016 in West Plains, Missouri, at the age of 70 years.

He is survived by two children, Kelly Dewayne Lacy of Springfield, Missouri and LaSonya Kay Lacy of Jonesboro, Arkansas; seven brothers, John Hall and wife, Donna and Terry Hall and wife, Cheryl, all of Myrtle, Missouri, David Lacy and wife, Linda, Eric Lacy and wife, Tina of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Gary Lacy of Broseley, Missouri, Crocket Lacy and wife, Karen of Memphis, Tennessee and Ronnie Lacy and wife, Doris of Bell City, Missouri; five sisters, Orlanda (Sis) Trimble and husband, Norman and Beverly Martin and husband, Steve, all of Thayer, Missouri, Bertha Hancock and husband, Larry of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Linda Yaktin and husband, Homam of Stoutsville, Ohio and Karla Hopper and husband, Dorris of Doniphan, Missouri; a special sister-in-law, Connie Lacy of Bloomfield, Missouri; two aunts, Bernice Sims of Alton, Missouri and Irene Owens of Homestead, Florida; one uncle, John Sherrod and wife, June of Covington, Tennessee; many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Margie Hall and Clarence Lacy; five brothers, Felix Reeder Hall, Dennis Lacy, Steven Lacy, Richard Lacy and John Lacy.

Robert was a veteran proudly serving his country in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War.

He was a drywall installer, owning and operating L & M Drywall for many years. Later, he was employed as a truck driver for McLane Transport of Poplar Bluff, Missouri retiring after several years of service.

Robert was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing and bow hunting and looked forward to deer season each year.

Robert was of the Pentecostal faith. He was deeply devoted to his family, and most of all, cherished time spent with his children, Kelly and Sonya.

He will truly be missed by his family and many friends.

Funeral services will be Monday, September 19, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Cotton Creek Free Will Baptist Church, near Couch, Missouri. Burial will be in Cotton Creek Cemetery with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. of Thayer, Missouri.

Hazel M. Drye was born the daughter of Hayde Dills and Winnie (Daily) Dills on November 1, 1935 in Thayer, Missouri and died September 14, 2016 in West Plains, Missouri, at the age of 80 years.
She is survived by her husband, Billy of the home in Thayer, Missouri; one daughter, Cindy Drye Botard and husband, Elton of Thayer, Missouri; one granddaughter, Samantha Whiteside and husband, Devin of Tulsa, Oklahoma; four great grandsons, Christian, Cole, Conner and Camden Whiteside of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one sister, Marie Russell; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her great granddaughter, Chloe Joy Whiteside; her parents, Hayde and Winnie Dills; two brothers, Clyde Dills and Bennie Dills; and one sister, Helen Robinson.
Hazel worked in several jobs throughout her life. She started her career as a bookkeeper at an advertising company in Kansas City. She then kept the books of Eder Oil Company of which she and Billy were co-owners. After selling Eder Oil Company, she sold real estate for Century 21. In addition, she worked side by side with Billy on their farm.
Hazel loved gardening, fishing and hunting. She also enjoyed oil painting and was involved in many other hobbies and activities.
She was a Christian and a member of the First Baptist Church in Thayer, Missouri where she faithfully attended as long as health permitted.
She was truly a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend and will be missed by all that knew her.

Funeral services will be held at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel, Thayer, Missouri on Friday, September 16, 2016 at 2:00pm.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 15 from 7:00 to 8:00pm.

Burial will be in Thayer Cemetery.

Larry Dean “Butch” Kellett was born the son of Loyd Kellett and Mamie (Martin) Kellett on September 11, 1942, in Thayer, Missouri, and departed this life September 3, 2016, at his home in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, at the age of 73 years.

He was united in marriage on May 27, 1963, at Jeff, Missouri, to Joan Williams.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Kellett, of the home in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; one daughter, Shanna Kellett of Thayer, Missouri; two grandchildren, Cody Crowell of Thayer, Missouri, and Holly Kellett and fiancé, Dylan McDermott of Brooklyn, Arkansas; one great grandchild, Trinity McDermott; one sister, Betty Gazano of Clayton, California; eleven nieces and nephews, Mark, Matt and Janet Ohanis,Vikki, Austin and Dallas Chavez, Sherry and Daniel Gazano, Rick Toomey and wife, Tilda, Angela Wilson and Brian Toomey; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Loyd and Mamie Kellett; his son, Brett Kellett; and two sisters, Peggy Ohanis and Mary Wilkerson.

Butch was a self-employed stock broker and worked as a private citizen in security, spending fifteen months in Iraq.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Thayer. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, dad, granddad and a friend to all.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at 2:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 7th from 1:00 until time of the service.

Burial will be in the Jeff Cemetery with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.

Marilyn Nilene Ivey was born the daughter of Lloyd Earl Jones and Bessie Lorene (Rogers) Jones on January 31, 1947, in Koshkonong, Missouri and died September 2, 2016, in West Plains, Missouri, at the age of 69 years.

She is survived by her husband, David of the home in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; one son, Dale Ivey and wife, Jane of Glencoe, Arkansas; one daughter, Sheila Godwin and husband, Steve of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Cody Tharp, Seth, Sagen and Terra Marie Godwin; four brothers, Garrel Rogers of Koshkonong, Missouri, Beryl Jones of Rover, Missouri, Donnie Jones of Rover, Missouri, and Ronnie Jones of Koshkonong, Missouri; four sisters, Hazel Huizar of Redwood City, California, Earlene Jones of Koshkonong, Missouri, Carolyn Meeker of West Plains, Missouri and Dolly Brashear of Koshkonong, Missouri; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Lorene Jones; one brother, John Wayne Jones and one sister, Terry Marie Whisenant.

Nilene was a hard worker, working as a waitress most of her life. She loved nature, the outdoors, gardening and sharing her flower seeds with family and friends and mowing her yard. She enjoyed woodworking and making treasures for her family and friends.

She was a Christian and believed in the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior. She will be remembered for her joy of life and a great desire for all to be happy and content.

She was truly a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be missed by all that that knew her.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at 11:00 AM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer.

Amos Ray Traw was born the son of Amos Traw and Bertha (Price) Traw on February 28, 1934 in Fulton County, Arkansas and departed this life on August 24, 2016, at his home near Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, at the age of 82 years.

He was united in marriage on June 5, 1954 to Merlene Oakes. He was united in marriage on August 4, 1973 to Moon Ja Lee.

He is survived by his wife, Moon Ja Traw of the home, near Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; six children, Robin Wells and husband, Steve of Williford, Arkansas, Regina Stephens and her husband, Steve of El Paso, Texas, Terry Traw of Hardy, Arkansas, Selena Ann Lowe and husband, Tony of Hardy, Arkansas. Dawn Engel and husband, Tony of York, South Carolina and Donna Dravenstott of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; nine grandchildren, Jeremy, Drucilla, Heather, Morgan, Jasmine, Jade, Tori, Alyssa and Emily; four great grandchildren, Dillon, Austin, Tyler and Eli; four brothers, Roy Traw of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, Troy Traw of Williford, Arkansas, Carroll Traw of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas and Doyle Traw of Gakona, Alaska; one sister, Joyce Porter of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; several nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Amos and Bertha Traw; and one sister, Veda McCradic.

He was a Veteran of the United States Army, proudly serving his country during the Korean War. He retired after twenty-three years of service as Chief Warrant Officer.
He was of the Baptist faith and attended New Hope Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Edna Mae Moore was born the daughter of of Anice Perkins and Maude (Childers) Perkins on November 7, 1933 in Thayer, Missouri, and died August 25, 2016 at the home of her nephew, James Bowers near Thayer, Missouri, at the age of 82 years.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews, and their families, including James and Sharon Bowers and their family, Tim and Kari Bowers and their children, Jarvis and Avery and Daniel and Monica Bowers and their children, Austin, Madison and Abby, all of Thayer, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Anice and Maude Perkins; one daughter, Shirley Maxine Jackson; two sisters, Georgia Pohnert and husband, Fred and Edith Bowers and husband, Orville; two nephews, Rob and Johnny Bowers; three nieces, Charlene Bowers, Rose Mary Bowers and Cathy Snyder; and a special cousin, Glen Holloway.
Edna Mae was of the Baptist faith and attended Norman Free Will Baptist Church as long as health permitted.

She was born and raised on the family farm and knew what hard work was, but always found a way to enjoy life. She enjoyed sewing, growing flowers and shooting armadillos. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was given the nicknames of “Speedy “ and “Gertie” by Tim and Daniel.

She will truly be missed by her family and many friends.

Nina Mae (Simpson) Davis was born the daughter of Amos Dewey Simpson and Flora Nell (Braswell) Simpson on May 23, 1924, in Alton, Missouri, and departed this life on August 18, 2016, at her home in Topeka, Kansas, at the age of 92 years.

She was united in marriage on January 31, 1947, at Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, to Teddy Joe Davis, who preceded her in death on August 1, 2005.

She is survived by one daughter, Linda Stacey of Topeka, Kansas; two grandchildren, Nicole Dampf and husband, Greg and Shauna Tindell and husband, Blake, all of Topeka, Kansas; three great-grandchildren, Megan Stacey, Hailey Tindell and Hunter Tindell, all of Topeka, Kansas; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Amos and Nell Simpson; her husband, Teddy Joe Davis; one grandson, Chad Stacey; two brothers, Edwin Simpson and Kelly Simpson; and one sister, Fern Louise Simpson.

Nina was a dedicated homemaker and was well known for her love of sewing and being an excellent seamstress.

Mrs. Davis was a lifetime member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority Club and a member of the Hickory Grove Presbyterian Church at Alton, Missouri.
She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and will truly be missed by all.

Funeral Services for Nina Davis, age 92, of Topeka Kansas, Formerly of Thayer, will be held Saturday, August 27, 2016, at 11:00 AM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with Brother Bill Bales Officiating.

Visitation will be Friday evening, August 26th from 6-8 PM at the chapel.

Burial will be in the Thayer Cemetery with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc in Thayer.
