Ronald C. Schneider, 66, Couch, Missouri, died December 14, 2011 at his home in Couch, Missouri. He was born the son of the late George Schneider and Clara Burg Schneider, on August 29, 1945 in Colgate, Wisconsin.
He was united in marriage March 12, 1994 in Thayer, Missouri to Rita Mayberry. He is survived by his wife, Rita Mayberry Schneider, of the home in Couch, Missouri; four children, Laura Schneider and husband, Rodney Collins of Thayer, Missouri, Travis Mayberry and wife, Lanetta of Couch, Missouri, Frances Holland from the state of Oregon, and Megan Leffert and husband, Michael of Couch, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Lance Schneider, Logan, Jordan, and Brysan Leffert, Jason, Kieleigh, and Noah Mayberry and three brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Ronald G. Schneider. He attended the Couch Community Worship Center. He liked to collect antiques and loved to fish, do woodworking projects, and bird watching. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help defray medical expenses, and may be left at the funeral home.
Graveside services for Rachel Annette Brewer, 37, Thayer, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 17, 2011, at Rose Hill Cemetery, Oregon County, Missouri, with Reverend Gerald Bounds officiating, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Thayer.
She was born the daughter of Debra K. Hilton Henry and the late James C. Henry, on October 10, 1974 in Galveston, Texas and died December 12, 2011 in Thayer, Missouri.
She was united in marriage October 11, 2001 in Ash Flat, Arkansas to John W. Brewer.
She is survived by her husband, John W. Brewer, of the home, Thayer, Missouri; her mother Debra K. Hilton Henry Baxter and husband, Dean, Alvarado, Texas; adoptive parents, N.L. and Sarah Harvey, Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; four children, Joshua Brewer, of the home, Thayer, Missouri, Lance Otto, Megan Otto and Janna Otto all of Omaha, Nebraska; one brother, James Henry, Woodville, Texas; five sisters, Regina Holland, Beaumont, Texas, Rhonda Church, Alvarado, Texas, Michelle Bilberry, Woodville, Texas; Tannah Henry, Vidor, Texas and twin sister, Rebecca Brown, Thayer, Missouri.
Jo Kathryn (JoKay) Wilkerson Smith, daughter of Charles “Buster” and Irene Smith Wilkerson, was born on June 20, 1944 in Couch, Missouri.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Jerry Smith of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; sisters Rebecca (Becky) Haney and husband Jack of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas and Suzanne Callahan and husband Jack of Jonesboro, Arkansas. She also leaves to mourn her passing, nieces Dawn Haney Purdom and husband Joe of Yellville, Arkansas and Morgan Haney of Springfield, Missouri; nephews, Matt Wilkerson and wife Jennifer of Troy, Ohio, Paul-Michael Wilkerson of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas and Bjorn Wilkerson of Springfield, Missouri along with Chase and Carter Callahan of Jonesboro, Arkansas. JoKay is also survived by great-nieces and nephews, Haydn, Ellie and Trent Purdom of Yellville, Arkansas and William, Cameron and Taylor Wilkerson of Troy, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles “Buster” and Irene Wilkerson and her brother, Charles Michael (Mike) Wilkerson.
Mrs. Smith was a 1962 graduate and valedictorian of Couch High School. She graduated from Southwest Missouri State (MSU) in 1966 with a BSE in English and Library Science. While at SMS she served as President of Alpha Sigma Alpha social sorority. Mrs. Smith earned a Master’s in English from Arkansas State University.
A life-long educator, Mrs. Smith taught English in both the Couch and Thayer Missouri School Systems. After her marriage to Jerry, JoKay taught in the Mammoth Spring School District. Mrs. Smith spent 42 years educating, loving and nurturing thousands of children. After her retirement she accepted a teaching position with Ozarka College, teaching her final class on the evening of her passing, exactly as she would have wanted.
Mrs. Smith was an avid reader. She was a lover of books, ideas and the art of literature. She served on both Fulton County and Regional Library Boards. JoKay loved music and was an outstanding pianist. Many piano students studied under her musical direction. JoKay and Jerry recently became fond of bluegrass music spending numerous weekends and evenings hosting impromptu musicals. They also enjoyed frequenting Mountain View, Arkansas to enjoy the live bluegrass music they both loved.
A life-long Democrat, Mrs. Smith served on both the Fulton County and Arkansas State Democratic Committees. She supported and campaigned for numerous candidates whom she believed fought for education and the future of our children. JoKay also served on the Mammoth Spring Fish Hatchery Board, the George D. Hay Foundation and was an active member of the Ozarka College Board Foundation.
She attended the Pilot Church of Christ for the past 42 years. JoKay will be fondly remembered for her sweet spirit, her willingness to serve her community and her beautiful smile. She will never be forgotten and will live in the hearts of those who loved her forever.
Funeral services will be Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the Mammoth Spring High School Gymnasium. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 to 9 PM in the Carter Funeral Home Chapel at Thayer. Burial will be in the Thayer Cemetery with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.

Evelyn Nadine Rogers was born the daughter of Daniel Isaac (Ike) Rogers and mother Rosa Mae Mask Stillwell on May 16, 1934, in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas and departed this life on October 18, 2011.
She is survived by her only son, Jimmy Dale Rogers and grandchildren, Kyleigh and Keaton Rogers of Woodland Hills California.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel Isaac Rogers, Rosa Mae Mask Stillwell; Brother RC Rogers and sisters Lucy Ann (Dee) Pritchard and Joann Tally.
She leaves to mourn her passing her sisters Virginia Rankin, Shirley Maxberry and brother James Rogers and many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
Evelyn spent most of her life in Kansas City Missouri where she worked in various positions in the hospitality industry. She moved to California later in life to be close to her son and grandchildren. She enjoyed shopping, live country music and camping at the coast.
Memorial Services will be held at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel, Thayer, MO November 19th 2011 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.
Once there was a three year old little boy. He and his momma were traveling down a stretch of highway between Thayer and West Plains.
His momma looked into the rear view mirror and saw her son with a big grin on his face and his big blue eyes beaming. He was looking out the windows waving….
His momma asked “What are you smiling and waving at? The sweet little voice from the backseat replied, “The angels mommy, they are all around us.”
That sweet Little Boy was our Eli….
Fifteen years have passed by and Eli was traveling that same road, but again, Eli was NOT ALONE….

Eli Pounders was born the son of Jeremy Pounders and Susan Brewer Pounders on July 12, 1993 in Springfield, Missouri and went home to be with the Lord on November 8, 2011 in Oregon County, Missouri at the age of 18 years.

Eli was a 2011 graduate of Thayer High School and a freshman at Missouri State University in West Plains, Missouri, seeking a degree in either Law Enforcement or a teaching degree in History.
He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and target shooting and making people laugh. Eli loved spending time with his family, Hunter, and the love of his life, Lauren Mackey.
Eli was a Christian who loved the Lord and attended Evening Light Message Church in Thayer, Missouri.

He was born the son of the late Leo Baker and Ruby Wetzel Baker, on June 29, 1919 in Oregon County, Missouri and died November 5, 2011 in Thayer, Missouri.
He was united in marriage March 9, 1940 in Pocahontas, Arkansas to Violet Martha Sandridge, who preceded him in death April 18, 1998.
He is survived by four children, Ronald Baker, wife, Reba, Thayer, Missouri, Sherman Baker, wife, Reva, Thayer, Missouri, Patsy Hedden, husband, Jim, Mulvane, Kansas, and Michael Baker, Hot Springs, South Dakota; one brother, George Baker, Lakeview, California; thirteen grandchildren, Ronda, Christine, Tony, Grant, Travis, Kyle, Kelly, Brady, Trish, David, Joshua, Daniel, and Caleb; eighteen great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Ruth Emaline Johnson was born the daughter of Elias Grover DuBois and Nancy Emaline James DuBois on August 23, 1922 in Randolph County, Arkansas and departed this life on October 25, 2011 in West Vue Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at West Plains, Missouri at the age of 89 years.
She was united in marriage at Alton, Missouri December 21, 1940 to Charles Lester Johnson, who preceded her in death January 18, 1990.
She is survived by three children, Carol Wilkerson and husband, Dow of Thayer, Missouri, Donna Cunningham and husband, Charles of Brookhaven, Mississippi, and Glen Johnson and wife, Carol of West Plains, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren, Nona, Anthony, Greg, Dana, Christy, Shane, Terry, Amy, Tim, Steven, Cody, Miranda, Chase and Clay; seventeen great grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; one sister, Kay McGhee and husband, Carl of Myrtle, Missouri; a son-in-law, Max Harville of Jackson, Tennessee; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Grover and Emaline DuBois; her husband, Lester Johnson; two daughters, Doris Harville and Margaret Ellis; one sister, Mary Leta Duckworth; four brothers, Lawrence, Truman, Leon, and Lehman DuBois; an infant sister; two infant brothers and one great grandchild.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Thayer Church of Christ. She loved to work in her flower and vegetable gardens and was an excellent seamstress, but her greatest joy in life was her family.
Ruth will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Claude Dale Rogers, son of Jesse and Berniece Williams Rogers, was born February 23, 1938, at Mammoth Spring, Arkansas.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy of Thayer, Missouri; son, Trent and his wife, Michelle and grandchildren, Emma and Grayson of Walla Walla, Washington; his mother, Berniece of Thayer, Missouri. His father, Jesse Rogers, preceded him in death.
Being an only child, Dale and his parents became a part of Peggy’s family. He leaves to mourn his passing his in-laws, Kenneth and Margaret Davis; Alice and Tim Young; Liz and Greg Russell; John and Phyllis Davis; special niece and nephew, Kathleen and Kevin Young, and other nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
Dale served as an air traffic controller in the United States Navy. He graduated from Arkansas State University with a business degree and worked for Standard Oil. Deciding he wanted to come back to Missouri, he took a teaching job. He retired from teaching business and special education classes for more than thirty years. Dale then worked part time for the 34th District Juvenile Office and Carter Funeral Home.
Dale was a member of Mammoth Spring First United Methodist Church and served as a trustee. He was a Mason and member of the Clifton Lodge No. 463 in Thayer. He served several years as a member of the Governor’s Committee for the Handicapped, the Citizens Probation and Parole Advisory Board and as a Democratic Committeeman. He helped organize the Oregon County Sheltered Workshop and served as a committee member.
Dale became a licensed pilot and enjoyed flying. He especially liked spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, raising cattle and beekeeping. He was a devoted ASU football fan.
Through his life and profession Dale enriched the life of many. He will fondly be missed and remembered by his family and friends.

Norman F. Marley, age 78, of Koshkonong, Missouri, died at 1:50 PM on Monday, October 10, 2011 at St. John’s Regional Health Center in Springfield, Missouri. Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.
Noel James “Jay” Jones was born the son of James Jones and Elizabeth Underwood Jones on December 16, 1929 in Tryon, Oklahoma and departed this life on October 6, 2011 in Springfield, Missouri at the age of 81 years.
He was united in marriage June 10, 1972 in Palace, Missouri to Willa Mae Manes.
He is survived by five children, Kathye Bowers of Nixa, Missouri, James “Rick” Stepp of Nixa, Missouri, Jewelene Ashton of Arlington, Virginia, Lloyd “Tim” Jones of Golden, Missouri and Deborah E. “Beth” Jones-Stovall of Jackson, Tennessee; seven grandchildren, Garold, Rhonda, Jim, Jason, Sascha, Daniel and Madeline; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Laqueta Bowden and Della Jordan and husband, Curtis both of Patterson, California; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Elizabeth Jones; one brother and several sisters.
Mr. Jones retired as an expert rifleman with the United States Army as a Sergeant 1st Class with over 25 years of military service. He received numerous awards including the Bronze Star and the National Defense Service Medal.
Jay loved travelling, country and western music and old western movies with “the Duke” John Wayne. He especially enjoyed the time he spent with his family.
He was a faithful member of the New Testament Church of Jesus Christ in Winona, Missouri.
He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
