Funeral services for Lyndall Fern Bridges, 80, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at the First Baptist Church, West Plains with Reverend David Ball officiating, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, West Plains.

She was born the daughter of the late Dalton Ball and Thelma Collins Ball, on May 29, 1933 in Moody, Missouri and died October 5, 2013 in West Plains, Missouri.

She was united in marriage December 2, 1950 in Salem, Arkansas to Junior Bridges.

She is survived by three children, Kelly Bridges and wife Debbie, Pomona, Missouri, LaDonna Bridges, Boston, Massachusetts, and James Gregory Bridges and wife Leslie, Noblesville, Indiana; six grandchildren, Amee  Minge and husband Justin, West Plains, Missouri, Rory Bridges and wife Lexi, Nixa, Missouri, Caitlin Hoffman, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Taylor Hoffman, Boston, Massachusetts, Madeline Bridges, Noblesville, Indiana, and Olivia Bridges, Noblesville, Indiana; four great grandchildren, Ethan Minge, West Plains, Missouri, Anna Minge, West Plains, Missouri, Aven Bridges, Nixa, Missouri, and Paxton Bridges, Nixa, Missouri.

Funeral services for Harvey Jett, 76, years, 7 months, and 17 days, Pomona, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 6, 2013, at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel, West Plains, with Brother Richard Wells officiating, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains.

He was born the son of the late Joseph “Joe” Samuel Jett, Jr.  and Ruby Agnes Thompson Jett, on February 14, 1937 in Fitztown, Oklahoma and died October 2, 2013 in Pomona, Missouri.

He was united in marriage April 3, 1960 in West Plains, Missouri to Bettie Sue Freeman.

He is survived by his wife, Bettie Sue Freeman Jett, of the home, Pomona, Missouri; three children, Mark Jett and wife, Melissa, West Plains, Missouri, Will Jett and wife, Ann, West Plains, Missouri, and Gena Jett Brook and husband, Jason, Willow Springs, Missouri; four brothers, Kenneth Jett and wife, Fern, Syracuse, Kansas, Phillip Jett and wife, Juanita, Alton, Missouri, David Jett and wife, Gertrude, Alton, Missouri, Lester Jett and wife, Mozella, Rover, Missouri; two sisters, Nancy Venberg, Wichita, Kansas, and Maxine Grinstead, Lebanon, Indiana; two sisters-in-law, Olene Jett, Quail, Texas and Shirley Jett, Rover, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Dr. Levi Jett and wife, Leslie, Springfield, Missouri, Lauryn Jett, West Plains, Missouri, Desley RaeAnn Jett, West Plains, Missouri, Matthew Lane Jett, West Plains, Missouri, Taylor Brook, Linsey Brook, Reagan Brook, and Ty Brook, all of Willow Springs, Missouri.

He was born the son of the late Enoch Ledbetter and Ella Hopkins Ledbetter, on May 8, 1931 in West Plains, Missouri and died September 27, 2013 in West Plains, Missouri.

He was united in marriage June 15, 1950 in West Plains, Missouri to Virlean Hall.

He is survived by his wife, Virlean Hall Ledbetter, of the home, West Plains, Missouri; nine children, Dale Ledbetter, Twin Bridges, Missouri, Dave Ledbetter, West Plains, Missouri, Dean Ledbetter and wife, Rose, Twin Bridges, Missouri, Dan Ledbetter and wife, Tina, West Plains, Missouri, Don Ledbetter, Midway, Arkansas, Doris Hambelton and husband Guy, Gainesville, Missouri, Dal Ledbetter and wife, Lori, Gainesville, Missouri, Doug Ledbetter, Twin Bridges, Missousri, and Devin Ledbetter, Springfield, Missouri; one brother, Marion Ledbetter and wife, Fern, Pomona, Missouri; twenty-three grandchildren; thirty-four great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.

Jeffrey Sandy, 75, West Plains, Missouri, died September 7, 2013 due to complications from a car accident.

He was born the son of the late Vaughn Sandy and Marjorie Grimmer Sandy, on July 2, 1938 in Clark County, Ohio.

He was united in marriage August 2, 1989 in Las Vegas, Nevada to Claudia King.

He is survived by his wife, Claudia King Sandy, of the home, West Plains, Missouri; eight children, Sandra, Jennifer, Joshua, Nellie, Heather, Jaimey, Michael, and Charla; four sisters, Jo Anne, Linda, Cindy, and Becky; seventeen grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

     Funeral services for Leonard W. Reavis, 88, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 9, 2013, at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel with the Brother Bob Arnold officiating under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, West Plains.

      He was born the son of the late Leonard H. Reavis and Laura A. Wood Reavis, on June 16, 1925 in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas and died September 6, 2013 in West Plains, Missouri.

      He was united in marriage August 31, 1958 in Peace Valley, Missouri to Anita Bennett, who preceded him in death November 3, 2008.

     He is survived by one son, Gary Reavis and wife, Amy, West Plains; one brother, Gene Reavis, Pueblo, Colorado; two grandchildren, Tyler Reavis and Austin Reavis, West Plains, Missouri.

     He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, and one son, Kent Reavis. He was a member of the First General Baptist Church of West Plains, Missouri.

     He attended his elementary years at Lanton Elementary School and graduated with the class of 1943 from West Plains High School. He was a member of the local Gideon Chapter in West Plains, served for twelve years on the Junction Hill School Board, and had been a deacon at the New Hope Baptist Church for several years. He served his country in the United States Army, stationed in England during WWII.

 Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideon’s and can be left at the funeral home.

 Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2013 from 4-6 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home Chapel, West Plains.

 Burial will be in Howell Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains. Military rites will be provided by the West Plains Honor Guard and the Missouri Funeral Honors Program.

     Funeral services for Donald Ray Wells, 87, West Plains, Missouri, will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home Inc., West Plains, with Brian Schick officiating.

     He was born the son of the late George Allen Wells and Beaulah Murray Wells, on May 23, 1926 in Los Angeles, California and died September 1, 2013 in West Plains, Missouri.

     He was united in marriage July 11, 1943 in Pasadena, California to Lorraine Campbell. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Campbell Wells, of the home, West Plains, Missouri; three children, Michael Wells, Bloomington, California, Ruth Anne Wells-Rieger, West Plains, Missouri, and Jonathan Lee Wells, Strafford, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren, Donna, Kathy, Sean, Lacey, Travis, Tracey, Austin, Dwayne, and Amy; sixteen great grandchildren, Marina, Alisha, Shawny, Shane, April, Bridget, Jessi, Leslie, Cody, Justin, Joey, Benjamin, Kaleb, and six great great grandchildren, Bladen, Edward, Zanina, Autumn, Blaine, and Lily; five sisters-in-law, Ruth Wells, West Plains, Missouri, Bea Wells, Monrovia, California, Edith Wells, Fontana, California, Eileen Blacksher, West Plains, Missouri and Lola Stowe, Norfolk, Virginia; one brother-in-law, George Turner, Pasadena, California.

     Donald was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings, Everett Wells, Charles Wells, George Wells, and Lucille Goodman, and two great grandchildren, Benjamin and Christian.

     Visitation will be held on Friday, September 6, 2013 from 7 to 8 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home Chapel, West Plains.

Celebration of Life services for Bradley Edmon Guffey, 88, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at Carter Funeral Home Chapel, West Plains, with Pastor Ron Kelly officiating, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains.

He was born the son of the late Grestal W. Guffey and Nellie Foster Guffey, on October 29, 1924 in Elizabeth, Arkansas and died August 25, 2013 at Ozarks Medical Center surrounded by his family.

He was united in marriage February 22, 1949 in Salem, Arkansas to Jacquetia Hammond.

He is survived by his wife, Jacquetia Hammond Guffey, of the home, West Plains, Missouri; two children, Robert E. Guffey and wife, Debra, Gainesville, Missouri and Michael A. Guffey and wife, Tracy, West Plains, Missouri; four grandchildren, Justin Guffey, Blake Guffey, Taylor Guffey, and Seth Guffey.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, John W. Guffey, and one grandson, Ethan Guffey.

Funeral services for Geraldine D. Price, 93, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, August 19, 2013, at Carter Funeral Home Chapel, West Plains, with Michael Brotherton officiating, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains.

She was born the daughter of the late Hervil Sumner and Ruth Marshall Sumner, on February 16, 1920 in Arditta, Missouri, and died August 15, 2013 in West Plains, Missouri.

She was united in marriage February 7, 1942 in Las Vegas, Nevada to Joe Bill Price, who preceded her in death July 1, 1984.

She is survived by one daughter, Reynna Cooper, West Plains, Missouri; two grandchildren, Shena Iliff and husband, William, West Plains, Missouri and Becca Bouhl and husband, Gerry, West Plains, Missouri; five great grandchildren, Kody Bouhl, Bailey Lane, Tyler Bouhl, Reyanna Iliff, and Kaitlynn Iliff, all of West Plains, Missouri.

Dorys Elaine McIntosh was born on November 30, 1920. She lived a quiet life with her parents and three siblings, Mildred, Jack, and Morris. Upon graduation from high school, she moved to Pittsburg, Kansas to find work, which she did at the Blue Bird Café. It was at this café that she met the love of her life, Joseph Marvin Ward.

Joe and Dorys married September 17, 1939 and settled in Pittsburg, Kansas. They added two children to their family, James Joseph and Debby Elaine in the coming years. Joe worked on the Frisco Railroad as a brakeman and later a trainmaster and this caused the family to live in many towns throughout the Midwest; Springfield, Missouri; Tulsa, Oklahoma; Webster Groves, Missouri; Chaffee, Missouri; Thayer, Missouri, and Fort Scott, Kansas. During this time, Dorys achieved a lifelong dream of getting her college degree when she graduated from Southwest Missouri State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Library Science.

Dorys lost Joe in June 1978 and moved to Texas. There she got a job at the public library and became very active in the local Republican Women’s group. She made many friends in this group and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. After more than a decade in Texas, Dorys moved back to Missouri to live close to her daughter and family.

Throughout Dorys’ life, she loved to travel. She started that with Joe, visiting most of the fifty (50) states before he passed away. She continued that after moving to Texas and was fearless – traveling to Scotland and Hawaii with friends!

     Dorys was a prolific writer during her life. She always had a story she was working on and eventually published several books; Mike’s Oil Patch; The Gypsy Legend of the Fourth Nail; and The Mystery of Wolfgang’s Church as well as many short stories. She typically wrote stories with characters named after those nearest and dearest to her, her family.

     Graveside Services for Cecil Jay Hodge, 83, West Plains, Missouri, will be 3:00pm Friday, August 2, 2013, at the Stateline cemetery, Moko, Arkansas, with the Reverend Charles Barnett officiating under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, West Plains.

     Viewing and visitation will be 9am-2pm Friday

     He was born the son of the late Eldie Lee Hodge and Loria Barnett Hodge, on August 23, 1929 in Moko, Arkansas and died July 25, 2013 in West Plains, MO.

     He was united in marriage May 6, 1954 in Salem, Arkansas to Myrtle Ruth Morris.

     He is survived by one son, James Hodge and friend Missy Fetzer, St Louis, Missouri; two daughters, Linda Weida and Charlotte Lemons, Belle, Missouri; one brother, Lonnie Hodge, Jonesboro, Arkansas; five sisters, Nancy Young, West Plains, Missouri, Grace Mann, Springfield, Missouri, Pearl Davis, Arnold, Missouri, Anna Brucker and Martha Britt; 11 grandchildren; several great and great great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

     He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Ruth Morris Hodge; his parents Eldie Lee Hodge and Loria Barnett Hodge; two sons-in-law, Edward Weida and Sonny Lemons; two brothers, Charlie and Francis Hodge; two sisters, Dorothy Crawford and May Sandridge; four infant siblings, Frankie Sidney Hodge, Eldie James Hodge, Mary Ann Hodge and Lora May Hodge.

     He was employed by Sunnen Products for many years and was a gardener. He was of the Pentecostal Faith and will be missed by those who knew and loved him.
