Carl Leon Sims
Carl Leon Sims was born the son of Virgil Homer Sims and Ilia Ann Cole Sims on January 19, 1932 in Cheyenne, OK and went to be with the Lord on May 13, 2020 in Round Rock, TX at the age of 88 years.
He was united in marriage on November 8, 1952 at Dequeen, AR to Edith Christian.
Carl is survived by one daughter, Karen Heistand and husband, Ray of Round Rock, TX; two sons, Terry Sims and wife, Denise Sims of Haslet, TX and Rodney Sims and fiancé, Angelika Seiber of Thayer, MO; three grandchildren, Kimberly Sims, Ashley Painter and Patrick Sims; eight great grandchildren; one sister, Irene Holland of Lubbock, TX; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Ilia Sims; his wife, Edith Sims; one sister, Lorene Sims; three brothers, Homer Sims, Roy Sims and Bill Sims.
Carl enlisted in the U.S. Army on October 21, 1950. He proudly served in the Korean War. Carl was honorably discharged on October 21, 1953.
Besides being a farmer, for many years he was employed by MFA, Garnett Wood Products and he worked in the oilfields in Oklahoma for several years prior to retirement on his farm in Koshkonong, MO.
He enjoyed fishing and running his tractor and brush hog on his farm. He enjoyed going to eat at the Ozark Café with his very close friend Kenny Dills of West Plains, MO.
Graveside services for Carl Leon Sims were held Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Koshkonong Cemetery in Koshkonong, Missouri with Brother Ben Ryan officiating.

Sarah Ellen Martin
Sarah Ellen Martin was born in Walnut, Mississippi, the daughter of Samuel Durward Orman and Zilpha Maude (Hopkins) Orman on February 18, 1940 and departed this life on May 10, 2020 at Shepherd’s View in Alton, Missouri, at the age of 80 years.
She was united in marriage to Billy Dean Martin on January 6, 1963 at the First Baptist Church in Thayer, Missouri, who preceded her in death.
Ellen is survived by two sons, Mark Ryan Martin and wife, Monica of Thayer, Missouri and Scott Eric Martin and wife, Allison of Nashville, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Grant Remington Martin, Nicklaus Ryan Martin and fiancé, Jaci Herron, Gabriel Truman Martin, Jack Alexander Martin and Megan Nicole Martin; other relatives; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Zilpha Orman; and one brother, Sammy Don Orman.
Ellen was a Christian and a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Thayer, Missouri.
She received her bachelor’s degree in education from Blue Mountain College in Mississippi. Ellen impacted in a positive way thousands of students’ lives during nearly thirty years of teaching English at Thayer High School.
After retiring from teaching and during the warmer months, she enjoyed transforming the grounds around her home into a botanical garden. Ellen was also interested in studying genealogy. She loved cats and had a strong compassion for all animals. Ellen was known for her chicken and dumplings. She was also known to play slot machines on trips with friends and family.
Ellen enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren. She did “surprise days” for her grandchildren, taking them shopping.
She never met a stranger and was overly generous at times. She will be greatly missed by her family and everyone who knew her.

Patsy “Pat” Beatty
Patsy “Pat” (Pierce) Beatty was born in Thayer, Missouri; the daughter of James Otho Pierce and Anna Marie (Bauer) Pierce on December 23, 1932 and passed away May 9, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri at the age of 87 years.
She was united in marriage to Willis Samuel “Sam” Beatty Jr. on December 27, 1949 in Salem, Arkansas.
Pat is survived by her sons, Jim (Karen) Beatty and John Beatty, daughters, Sheri Beatty and Mary Beatty, all of Springfield, Missouri, and Jeanne (Jerry) Ashton of Wichita, Kansas; granddaughters, Jessica (Adam) Gauvin of Austin, Texas, Kathryn (Casey) Hedden of Sheridan, Arkansas, Elizabeth (Greg) Ryner of Bentonville, Arkansas, and Jennie Ashton of Alexandria, Virginia; grandsons, Jerry Ashton and Joshua (Kelly) Ashton of Wichita, Kansas; great granddaughter Emily Hedden and great grandson Henry Hedden, and soon to be great granddaughter “baby” Gauvin; great granddaughters Hailey and Nika Ashton, great grandsons Michael and Adam Ashton; sisters Jackie (Wayne) Watson and Adele Pallman of the Kansas City metro area and brother Joe Pierce of Strasburg, Illinois.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband Sam, her parents, sisters Betty DeArman and Virginia “Ginger” Jones and brother John Robert “Bob” Pierce.
Pat resided in Thayer from birth until 1981 and was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for those years. Pat moved to Springfield, Missouri in 1981 to be closer to family at which time she became a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Pat worked at Bass Pro Warehouse Fulfillment Center for 12 years retiring in 1997.
Pat’s greatest joy in life was being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will truly be missed by her family and friends.

Anna Grace Villa
Anna Grace Villa is survived by her parents, Jared and Emily (Schamel) Villa; two sisters, Haleigh Villa and Gabriella Villa; three brothers, Jared Paul Villa, Elijah Villa and Noah Villa; her grandparents, Robert and Lydia Schamel, and Rocio Perez; many aunts and uncles; and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Jessie-Mae Lynn Villa; and her grandfather, Inocente Perez.
Anna Grace was here for just a moment in her mother’s womb, but was loved by so many and was so anticipated. She was so tiny, but so perfect and beautiful. She will live in the hearts and memories of us all until we are able to join her for our eternal rest.
Hazel Lavern Gower
Hazel Lavern (Agnew) Gower was born the daughter of Walter Agnew and Judy Lavena (McFann) Agnew on October 19, 1937 in Randolph County, Arkansas and departed this life on May 7, 2020 at Shady Oaks Healthcare Center at the age of 82.
Hazel was united in marriage on December 8, 1956 in Thayer, Missouri to William (Bill) Gower.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-three years, Bill of the home in Thayer, Missouri; one son, Mark Gower and wife, Sonyia of Mountain Home, Arkansas; two daughters, Sharon Brewer and husband, Daniel, and Marilynn Wheeler and husband, Ben, both of Thayer, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Chris (Michelle) Gower, Hope Brewer, Anthony (Lyndsey) Gower, Chase (Heather) Brewer, Monica (Michael) Dewey, Garrett (Tammy) Brewer, Jordan Gower and Savannah Wheeler; five great grandchildren, Cody, Alannah, Harper, Griffin and Whitten; one brother, Donald Agnew; other relatives; and many friends.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Lavena Agnew; one daughter, Janet Gower; her sister-in-law, Della Faye Agnew; and a special aunt, Mabel Gower.
She worked in the shirt factory in Thayer, Missouri and then worked for HeadStart in Thayer, Missouri for 23 years and retired from there.
Hazel was always cooking and loved to feed everyone. Hazel was always ready to go; it didn’t matter where as long as they were going.
She was a member of the Thayer Church of Christ, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She will truly be missed by her family, friends and the community in which she lived.

Deborah Ann Ray
Deborah Ann Ray was born in Thayer, Missouri, the daughter of Albert Ray Ellison and Edna Shelton Ellison on December 21, 1954 and departed this life on April 24, 2020 at her home in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas at the age of 65 years.
Debbie united in marriage to Raymond M. Ray on August 3, 1973 in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond Ray; her two children, Nikki Davis and husband, Michael, and Stephen Ray; six grandchildren, Blake Davis, Tyler Davis, Savannah Ray, Slade Ray, Seth Ray, and Summer Ray; her father, Albert Ray Ellison; her two sisters, Susan Schwartz and Sherry Drumwright and husband, James; other relatives; and many friends.
Debbie was preceded in death by her mother, Edna Ellison; and one son, Raymond Ray, III.
She was a Christian and baptized in the Baptist faith. Debbie was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas.
Debbie loved shopping and collecting antiques. She enjoyed finding bargains at flea markets and auctions. One of her favorite pastimes was decorating for the holidays and cooking large meals for her family.
She especially treasured time spent with her children and grandchildren. Debbie will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother, sister and Nana. She is truly loved and adored by many and will be greatly missed.

Juanita A. Vonallmen
Juanita S. Vonallmen was born in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, the daughter of Vall Irby and Delena Terry Irby on September 10, 1938 and departed this life on April 22, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri at the age of 81 years.
She was united in marriage to Doyle Eugene Vonallmen on July 13, 1973 in Ash Flat, Arkansas.
Juanita is survived by her husband, Doyle Vonallmen; five children, Carl Collins, Jr. and wife, Martha, Sherry Collins, Christy Pennell, Barbie Simmons and husband, Joe and Benjamin Vonallmen; four grandchildren, Jeremy Collins, Logan Simmons, Jorrdin Raney and Colin Simmons; one brother, Doyle Irby and wife, Judy; nieces and nephews; other relatives; and countless friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vall and Delena Irby; her brother, Don Irby and infant brother, David Irby.
Juanita was a Christian and a member of the Cornerstone Church in Springfield, Missouri.
Although she had a number of jobs outside the home, her main job was as a homemaker, taking care of Doyle and raising her children. She was a good cook, especially in making her Mom’s fried chicken.
Juanita was a good and honest lady. She was the best wife you could have for Doyle.
She was a woman of faith. She was a praying woman who instilled her faith and praying in her children.
Juanita will be missed by her family and all that knew her.

David P. Garner
David Paul Garner was born November 26th, 1945. He left this life on Thursday, April 16th, 2020, somehow, without exception, in ways small or large, having left an indelible memory on every single person that met him.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley, of Mammoth Spring, AR, and children:
Teresa Schabacker of Rochelle, IL; Dee Dee Lechner of Bluff City, TN; Clint Garner of Spanish Fort, AL; Kasy Cates of Cherokee Village, AR and Tracy Jones of Springfield, MO. Dave has 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, and the rest of you that he too thought of as family.
Dave is the eighth child of the late Reverend R. Austin and Clara Garner. He is survived by his brothers Dr. Gene and Leon Garner. He is preceded in death by his brothers, William Robert “Dub”, Beverly, Troy, and Jimmy Garner and his sister Willa Mae Hogan.
He was a Christian.
Dave worked in construction and as a claims adjuster. He enjoyed painting, fishing, hunting, golfing and singing. He loved spending time with friends and family at the lake.
Anyone who ever met him will remember him fondly. And he wants you to know how much you meant to him too. Tell your stories about him, because he told stories about you too.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Leroy Croney
Leroy Croney was born the son of Ernest Croney and Fayreen Gilmore Croney, on August 2, 1940 in East Prairie, Missouri and departed this life on April 17, 2020 in Myrtle, Missouri at the age of 79.
He was united in marriage to Ida Mary Ann Hayes who preceded him in death. He was united to Debbie Lynn Perry who preceded him in death.
Leroy is survived by one son, Mitchell Lee Croney and wife, Melba; one daughter, Melinda Ann Croney; one step-daughter, Brandi Sue Hathcoat and husband, Chris; one step-son Kent Allen West and wife, Lynette; four grandchildren, Johnathan McIntare, Anthony McIntare, Allicia Clark and husband, Chris, and Mary Croney; two great grandchildren, Skylar Gwen McIntare and Colter Alexander Lee McIntare; four step-grandchildren, Whitney DeAnn Scott, Hunter Alan West, Caden Cooper and Riley West; one step-great grandchild, Kensley Lynn Hathcoat; one sister, Brenda Bailey and husband, Melvin; two sisters-in-law, Jeanie Croney and Lillie Mae Croney; many nieces and nephews; other relatives; and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by two wives, Mary Ann Croney and Debbie Croney; one infant daughter, Ronnica Lynn Croney; and two brothers, Charles Croney and Thomas Croney.
Leroy was a Christian and a member of the Myrtle Free Will Baptist Church.
He was a Master Mason and a member of the Lodge in Alton, Missouri and later attended the Clifton Lodge in Thayer, Missouri.
Leroy graduated from Couch High School and attended some college.
He worked for the Missouri Department of Transportation and retired after 36 ½ years of service. At the time of his retirement, he had attained the position of shed foreman. Leroy was also a farmer, raising livestock.
Leroy liked to hunt and fish. He also loved to play pool. He enjoyed visiting with his friends.
Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. He will truly be missed by his family and all that knew him.
