Clara Ellen Taylor was born in Corner Town Arkansas, the daughter of Frank and Opie Vaughn on December 26, 1935 delivered by her grandmother, and she passed away on July 18th, 2020.

She was united in marriage to Larry G. Taylor on August 6, 1955 in Hernando Mississippi. They were married 65 years.

Clara is survived by her daughter Tasabah Malone and her husband John Malone; one grandson John Taylor Malone; one brother, Charles Vaughn and wife, Sue, along with many loved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Opie Vaughn, her brothers Gene and William “Jr.” Vaughn, and her husband, Larry G. Taylor.

Clara graduated from Arkansas State University. She was a teacher in Arkansas, but teaching children on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona is where she found joy. While on the reservation she helped her husband Larry open the only gas station on the reservation, and following its success they began a string of businesses.  She and her husband grew a devoted love and passion for the Navajo culture and their land, and after moving back home to Arkansas in 1968, they would visit the reservation frequently.

In 1969, Clara and her husband had their first, and only, daughter, Tasabah Taylor Malone.  She enjoyed playing bridge with friends, collecting antiques, traveling, and spending time with family. Clara was a teacher at her core, and taught her grandson John Taylor Malone to read, write, and walk among other things. However, Clara’s greatest lesson was grit and toughness which she taught by example.

Clara will be missed immensely by her family and friends.

Graveside services for Clara E. Taylor will be held Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at 10:00 AM at Sturgeon Cemetery in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas with Brother Charles Morgan officiating.

Burial will be in Sturgeon Cemetery in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer, Missouri.
