Ben E. Pohnert was born the son of Hugo Fred Pohnert and Maggie Davis Pohnert on May 10, 1917 at Mammoth Spring, Arkansas and departed this life June 5, 2011 at Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains, Missouri at the age of 94 years.
He was united in marriage December 24, 1936 in Alton, Missouri to Lorene Pingleton.
He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Lorene Pohnert, of the home in Thayer, Missouri; one son, Donald Rex Pohnert and wife, Sammie Jo of White Deer, Texas; one daughter, Dolly Ruth Jewel of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; four grandchildren, Dudley Rex Pohnert and wife, Cindy of White Deer, Texas, D’Lisa Dawn Pohnert of Amarillo, Texas, James David “Jamie” Pohnert and wife, Kirsten of Canyon, Texas and Deidre Dawn Farless and husband, Devin of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; three great grandchildren, Lane, Jordan and Chandler; three step grandchildren, Barbara Judah, Pamela Loftus and Sydnei Farless; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugo and Maggie Pohnert; one son-in-law, Don Jewel; five brothers, Harvey, Charles, Henry, Fred and Paul Pohnert and three sisters, Hazel Hubbard, Lois Brandt and Betty Angotti.
Ben was a conductor for the Frisco Railroad, retiring after 35 years of service. He was a Christian man and a faithful member of the Thayer Free Will Baptist Church. He was instrumental in the organization of the church and served as a Deacon and Trustee for over 60 years.
He will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather “pa-paw”, uncle and loyal friend. He will truly be missed by his family, his church family, friends and the neighborhood in which he lived.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the Thayer Free Will Baptist Church in Thayer with Brother Richard Robinson officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Thayer Cemetery with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.
Leon Kenneth Keylon was born the son of Homer W. Keylon and Mammie H. Grills Keylon on March 25, 1922 at Ottawa, Oklahoma and departed this life May 27, 2011 in Salem, Arkansas at the age of 89 years.
He was united in marriage February 24, 1945 in Union, Arkansas to Vondera Hartgraves.
He is survived by his wife, Vondera Keylon of the home in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; one daughter, Donna Keyes and husband, David of Paducah, Kentucky; one son, Ronald Keylon of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; one daughter-in-law, Sherrie Keylon of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Shelly King and husband, Barry of Bentonville, Arkansas, Tammy Rich and husband, Steve of Paducah, Kentucky and Patrick Keyes and wife, Casey of Grand Chain, Illinois; five great grandchildren, Zach, Dylan, Delaney, Steven and Seth; one great great granddaughter, Olivia; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Kelly Keylon and one sister, Imogene Stuart.
Mr. Keylon was a well-known mechanic in this area and along with his wife, owned and operated Leon’s Garage in Mammoth Spring for many years.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas and a member of Hayes Masonic Lodge No. 289 in Union, Arkansas for over fifty years.
He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, a true friend and neighbor. He will truly be missed by his family, his many friends and the community in which he lived.

Delsie Ann Rideout was born the daughter of Norman F. Howell and Marie Brazeal Howell on November 16, 1948 in Koshkonong, Missouri and departed this life May 18, 2011 in Baptist Memorial Hospital at Memphis, Tennessee at the age of 62 years.
She was united in marriage April 14, 1969 in Tampa, Florida to Roy Rideout who preceded her in death April 3, 2011.
She is survived by one son, Douglas Paul Rideout and wife, Shelly of Clarksville, Arkansas; one daughter, Julie Ann Humphreys and husband, Mike of Hernando, Mississippi; five grandsons, Mason, Tyler, Alex, Dillon and Nick; three granddaughters, Haley, Lauren and Bailey; her mother, Marie Howell of Koshkonong, Missouri; four s isters and their husbands, Betty and Lewis Childers, Wilma and Jim Boze and Shirley and John Smith, all of Koshkonong, Missouri and Jeannie and Dale Kester of Branson, Missouri; two brothers and their wives, Jimmie and Virginia Howell and Jackie and Amy Howell, all of Koshkonong, Missouri; two sisters-in-law and their husbands, Kay and Walter Botzenhart, and Terry and Eldon Tinsley; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Rideout and her father, Norman Howell.
Delsie was a dedicated homemaker, a devoted wife, daughter, Mother, grandmother and sister. She will truly be missed by her family, her many friends and the community in which she lived.
Graveside services were Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 4:00 PM at the Wayside Cemetery near Koshkonong, Missouri with Brother Dale Kester and Brother Johnny Ward officiating. Burial was in the Wayside Cemetery with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.
William Martin “Bill” Garrison was born the son of Herman T. Garrison and Jewell Lucille Hensley Garrison on September 7, 1941 in Sikeston, Missouri and departed this life May 16, 2011 in Thayer, Missouri at the age of 69 years.
He was united in marriage May 26, 1962 in Thayer, Missouri to Betty Anne Hirsch.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Anne Garrison of the home near Myrtle, Missouri; one son, Dr. Brent Garrison and wife, Cindy of Thayer, Missouri; two granddaughters, Carley Grace and Abbey Cristine Garrison of Thayer, Missouri; four brothers, Tom Garrison and wife, Jessie Mae of Myrtle, Missouri, Carroll Garrison and wife, Emma of Myrtle, Missouri, David Garrison and wife, Brenda of Myrtle, Missouri and Steve Garrison and wife, Rochelle of Salem, Arkansas; one sister, Kathy Huddleston and husband, Roger of Alton, Missouri; his mother-in-law, Ethel Hirsch of Thayer, Missouri; six brothers-in-law, Albert Hirsch, Herbert Hirsch and wife, Kathleen, Gary Hirsch, Roy Hirsch and wife, Debbie, Bill Hirsch and wife, Cindy and Larry Hirsch and wife, Betty; four sisters-in-law, Marie Vincent and husband, Harry, June Davis and husband, Danny, Janice Howell and husband Johnnie and Kathy Azar and husband, Tony; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Lucille Garrison; his father-in-law, Albert Hirsch; one niece; two great nieces and one brother-in-law, Ernie Bray.
Bill was an active member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church. He has served on the Administrative Council and was Chairman of the Board of Trustees and as usual with Bill, he served anywhere he was needed.
As a young boy, Bill attended and graduated from Couch School where he developed a strong base for education. After graduation, he worked his way through school at the West Plains Residence Center, South Missouri State University, Drury and Arkansas State University, earning Bachelor’s, Master’s and Specialist Degrees. His diplomas meant a lot to him since it took him 30 years to obtain them. He used this education to teach at the Koshkonong and Ava Schools. He also served as a school administrator at Oak Ridge Central, Couch, and Thayer Schools. One of the highlights of his Superintendency was the passage of the bond issue and the building of the elementary school. He spent many hours overseeing the completion of this project in time for the teachers and students to begin the 2004-05 school year in this new environment. He retired as Superintendent of Thayer School in 2007.
During the time he was going to college he served three years in the United States Army, spending thirteen months in Korea during the Vietnam War. Also during his college years, he was co-owner and later the sole owner of the Garrison Store at Garfield.
Bill has been an active member of the Rotary Club for 14 years, working many hours at the Bobcat football concession stand, the radio auction and community garden, as well as various other projects.
He was a hard worker who rarely found a problem he wasn’t willing to tackle. He loved to do carpentry work and enjoyed fishing. The joy and light of his life were his two granddaughters, Carley and Abbey.
Funeral services will be Thursday, May 19, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the Thayer High School Gymnasium. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 18th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Thayer Cemetery with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made at the Bank of Thayer to the William Garrison Memorial Scholarship Fund.

She is survived by her husband, Everett Boyd Thompson of the home in West Plains, Missouri; three children, Charella Lavene Reichardt and husband, John of St. Louis, Missouri, Deloria Kay Hendon of St. Charles, Missouri and Jonathan Lowell Thompson and wife, Donna of Arnold, Missouri; twelve grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; six sisters, Audrey Thompson and husband, George of O’Fallon, Missouri, Betty Roberts and husband, Kenny of Alton, Missouri, Mabel Sheilds of Alton, Missouri, Frances Deckard of California, Elda Bassham and husband, Larry of Nixa, Missouri and Phyllis Johnson; one brother, Jerry Johnson and wife, Darlene of Alton, Missouri; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Deloris Fay McCoy; two grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one brother, Frank Johnson and one sister, Pat Terwilliger.
Aliene was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed making quilts. She was of the Pentecostal faith and will be remembered as a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She will truly be missed by her family and her many friends.

Maggie Leona King was born the daughter of Joseph Ivey and Augusta Wallace Ivey on August 3, 1927 at Many Islands, Arkansas and departed this life May 6, 2011 in Thayer, Missouri at the age of 83 years.
She was united in marriage January 8, 1949 in Kansas City, Missouri to Elmer Jay King, who preceded her in death April 5, 2005.
She is survived by five children,Verne King and wife, Carole of Chattaroy, Washington, James J. King and wife, Karen of Arnold, Missouri, Harold Eugene King and wife, Dianne of Bloomington, Illinois, Gary Lynn King of Thayer, Missouri and Barry Joe King and wife, Shelly of Bentonville, Arkansas; twelve grandchildren; Bobby King, Shelley Cook, Tamara King, Tracy Entwhistle, Angela Kozieja, Samuel King, Laura King, Michael King, Ryan King, Zach King, Dylan King and Delaney King; fifteen great grandchildren; a special niece and caregiver, Sharon Montalto of Thayer, Missouri; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Wayne Lee King; eight brothers and sisters, Thomas Ivey, Charles Lynn Ivey, Mary Ivey Stiles, Goldie Young, Ollie Taylor, Erwin “Bub” Ivey, Lee Ivey and Helen Ivey.
Mrs. King enjoyed bingo and spending time with her brothers and sisters. She will be remembered and missed by all who knew and loved her.

Robert Lee “Bob” Threlkeld died April 29, 2011 at Indiana University Medical Center. Bob was born on November 10th, 1945, the son of Henry Franklin Threlkeld and Clara Martha Hampton Threlkeld in Koshkonong, Missouri.
Bob was self-employed throughout his life. His endeavors included trading cattle, dairy farming, West Plains Seed Company, and most recently working in salvage sales.
His parents, Henry and Clara and one sister, Ella Jean, preceded Bob in death. He is survived by his wife, Patsy Carlyn Williams Threlkeld, two daughters, Clara Jane Threlkeld and Robin Elizabeth Threlkeld both of Kansas City and two sons, Robert Lee “Deuce” Threlkeld II and Lucas Edward Threlkeld of Pomona. Other survivors include his sister, Shirley Florence Roberts, Topeka, Kansas; his brothers, William Henry “Bill” Threlkeld and James Edward “Jay” Threlkeld of Koshkonong and Harry Franklin Threlkeld of Whitney, Texas; two grandchildren, Davian and Destiny and numerous nieces and nephews.

David Lynn Bowers was born the son of Marvin Bowers and Beulah Brazeal Bowers on June 4, 1953 at Peoria, Illinois and departed this life April 29, 2011 in West Plains, Missouri at the age of 57 years.
He is survived by three children, Jason Bowers and wife, Samantha of Pleasant Hill, Illinois, Melissa McHatton and husband, Bobby of Virginia, Illinois and David Bowers, Jr. and wife, Tammy of Taylorville, Illinois; five grandchildren, Jordan, Peyton, Cole, David III and Emma; two brothers, Ronald Bowers of Thayer, Missouri and Darrell Bowers of Thayer, Missouri; one sister, Debra Bumbalough of Pekin, Illinois; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Beulah Bowers and one brother, Gary Bowers.
David was a carpenter and worked in building construction. He was a member of the National Riflemen’s Association and was of the Baptist faith.
He will be remembered as a devoted father, grandfather and brother and will truly be missed by all.

Edith Louise Sloan was born the daughter of Norval Hunsperger and Dowan Day Hunsperger on December 8, 1935 at Koshkonong, Missouri and departed this life April 28, 2011 in Springfield, Missouri at the age of 75 years.
She was united in marriage June 16, 1956 at Peoria, Illinois to John Lee Sloan.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, John Sloan of the home in Koshkonong, Missouri; two sisters, Patsy Hightower of Thayer, Missouri and Hazel Johnson of Zebulon, Georgia; several nieces and nephews and two special friends, Goldina Hansen and Donna Qualls.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Norval and Dowan Hunsperger; two brothers, Bill Cowens and John Hunsperger; three sisters, Yvonne Johnston, Betty Evans and Iona Nickels and one infant brother, Frankie Hunsperger.
Edith and her husband, John, shared in their passion of antiques. They enjoyed looking for antiques at yard sales, flea markets and attending auctions together.
She was of the Protestant faith, a dedicated homemaker and will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, sister, aunt and friend. She will truly be missed by her family and many friends.

Helen Odessa Stith Allen was born the daughter of Grover F. Stith and Bessie Guy Stith on December 25, 1928 at Koshkonong, Missouri and departed this life April 28, 2011 in Thayer, Missouri at the age of 82 years.
She was united in marriage October 8, 1946 in Salem, Arkansas to Archie Earle Allen, who preceded her in death November 18, 2003.
She is survived by one sister, Emma Jean Stith of Thayer, Missouri; six children, Dane Allen and wife, Patricia of Nixa, Missouri, Dian Hensley of Nixa, Missouri, Lark Allen of Columbia, South Carolina, Lana Armstrong and husband, Ernie of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, Harvey Allen and wife, Marcia of Thayer, Missouri and Mike Allen and wife, Sharlet of Thayer, Missouri; ten grandchildren; Eric Allen, Matthew Allen, Aaron Hensley, Andrew Hensley, Bradley Armstrong, Bevely Bailey, Nickolas Allen, Jordan Reed, Mikayla Allen and Jadyn Allen; seven great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one granddaughter, Karmon Hensley; two sisters, Thelma Pressley and Evelyn Hatfield and two brothers, Floyd and J.F. Stith.
She was a well-known and respected business lady, working as a real estate broker for Strout Realty for many years before opening her own office, Allen American Realty in Thayer.
Helen enjoyed cattle farming, gardening, fishing and even cutting firewood. Her passion was her family and she will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She was a faithful member of the Thayer Church of Christ and will truly be missed by her family, friends and the community in which she lived.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the Carter Funeral Home Chapel at Thayer with Shawn Deree officiating.
