Bobby Joe Hightower was born the son of Jody Franklin Hightower and Vera Lou Martin Hightower on August 5, 1942 in Saddle, Arkansas and departed this life July 27, 2012 in West Plains, Missouri at the age of 69 years.

He was united in marriage May 22, 1964 in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas to Patsy Hunsperger.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy of the home in Thayer, Missouri; one sister, Virginia Murphy and husband, Danny of Ash Flat, Arkansas; two nephews, Danny McGuire and wife, Wanita of Glencoe, Arkansas and Gary Conway of Ash Flat, Arkansas; many extended family members and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by one son, Kevin Hightower and his parents, Jody and Vera Hightower.

He was a member of the Thayer Free Will Baptist Church and Clifton Masonic Lodge 463 in Thayer, Missouri.

Bobby Joe was a retired engineer for BNSF Railroad, retiring in 2004 after many years of service.

He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed Cardinal Baseball and Arkansas Razorback Basketball. He was a gardener and enjoyed growing tomatoes.

Bobby Joe will be remembered for his pleasant personality, playing jokes on people and his sense of humor. He will also be remembered as a devoted husband, father, brother and uncle. He will truly be missed by his family, his church family and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Hightower will be held, Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at 2:00 PM in Carter Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Richard Robinson officiating. The family will receive friends Monday evening 6-8 PM at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Wayside Cemetery near Koshkonong.
