Carolyn Dell Schamel was born the daughter of Robert Havens and Ethel (Nixon) Havens on October 14, 1945 in Clyde, Texas and died July 13, 2012 at Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains, Missouri at the age of 66 years.

She was united in marriage at Henryville, Indiana in August of 1959 to Johnny Schamel.

She is survived by five children, Robert Schamel and wife, Lydia, of Thayer, Missouri, Dale Schamel and wife, Jannice, of Alton, Missouri, Sharron Crews of Blytheville, Arkansas, Peary Schamel and wife, Kim, of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, and Tina Lindsey of West Plains, Missouri; twenty-five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother, Gene Havens of Abilene, Texas; one sister, Janice Hunt of New Albany, Indiana; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ethel Havens; one great granddaughter, Jessie Mae Villa; four brothers, Robert, Samuel, Joe and David Havens and three sisters, Wanda Troub, Jewell Troub and Nina Lookingbill.

Carolyn was a Christian lady and a member of the Christian Tabernacle Church.  Her faith in God was reflected in her home through the deep devotion she shown to her family. Her life revolved around the family with her loving and caring spirit. She will truly be missed by her family, the church family, and all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Christian Tabernacle Church near Wirth, Arkansas with Pastor Jason Jackson officiating.  The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5 to 7 PM at Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer. Burial will be in Eagles Rest Cemetery with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.
