Wanda Mae (Medley) Davis was born the daughter of Reuben Medley and Jimmie Celest (Hogan) Medley Baldridge on August 31, 1930 in Hinton, Oklahoma, and departed this life December 26, 2012, at Ash Flat Healthcare and Rehab in Ash Flat, Arkansas at the age of 82 years.

She was united in marriage in October of 1948 in Wheeler, Texas, to Hurshel “Lefty” Davis, who preceded her in death on July 7, 1979.

She is survived by one daughter, Diana Sue Walsh and husband, Denny of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Rose Marie Estes and husband, Ron, Dennis Carl Walsh, Jr. and wife, Cheryl, and John Patrick Walsh and wife, April, all of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, and Cara Christina Wade and husband, Charles of Nashville, Tennessee; twelve great grandchildren, Chancey Joelle Smith and husband, Scott of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, Justin McGowan of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Jessica Raquel Corbett and husband, Brad of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, Jodie Madison Walsh of Cordova, Tennessee, Taylor Davis Walsh, Forest Lefty Walsh, Candace Ashley Walsh and fiancé, Dusty Hatterman, Ashton Bailey Walsh, and Aysa Braxton Walsh, all of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, Briana Blair Wade, Mia Diana Wade, and Olivia Mae Wade, all of Nashville, Tennessee; five great great grandchildren, Landon Brewer, Adrianna Corbett, Molly Corbett, Gradey Hatterman, and Preston Smith; one brother, James Reuben Medley and wife, Cathy of Clay City, Indiana; one sister, Sue Francine Kenyon and husband, Carl of Tampa, Florida; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Reuben Medley and Jimmie Baldridge; her husband, Lefty Davis; and one sister, Virginia Mae Medley.

Wanda was a dedicated employee, working and retiring as the cafeteria manager at the Mammoth Spring School System. Later, she was employed for several years as a cashier at Town and Country Supermarket in Thayer.

Mrs. Davis was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mammoth Spring and the Eastern Star.

 

 

She was a devoted homemaker and an excellent cook, especially known for her delicious hot rolls and award winning cinnamon rolls.

Wanda will be remembered as a loving and caring mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Her family was the joy of her life and she treasured the time they spent together. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be Monday, December 31, 2012 at 10:00 AM in the Carter Funeral Home Chapel at Thayer. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in the Davis Cemetery with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.
