Viola Scallions was born the daughter of John Robert Jeans and Gertrude (Turpin) Jeans on June 3, 1929 in Tuckerman, Arkansas and died June 22, 2012 at her home in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas at the age of 83 years.

She was united in marriage at St. Louis, Missouri on October 13, 1951 to Bobby Scallions.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bob Scallions of the home in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; two sons, Michael Scallions and wife, Virginia of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas and Kevin Scallions and wife, Claire of Roswell, Georgia; one daughter, Chris Lococo and husband, Tom of St. Charles, Missouri; ten grandchildren, Ashley Hensley, Amber Hensley, Amanda Hensley, Christopher Martinez, Tony Martinez, Nikki Martinez, Brendan Lococo, Melissa Scallions, Ashley Parisi, and Jennifer Scallions; ten great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Gertrude Jeans; five brothers, Dillard, Robert, Lloyd, Louis, and Leon Jeans and four sisters, Vergie Wells, Dorothy Dority, Lela Simmons, and Edith Hawkins.

Besides being a dedicated homemaker, Viola was a PBX operator for Western Union for 21 years. After moving from St. Peters, Missouri to Mammoth Spring, she became an active member of the Thayer Free Will Baptist Church, Thayer Fun and Friends, the quilting club, Thayer Garden Club, Lucky Ladies Red Hat Society and volunteered at the Caboose Information Center in Thayer. She was also an amateur painter, giving many paintings to family members and friends. She will truly be missed by all.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri with Brother Richard Robinson officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.  Burial will be in the Thayer Cemetery with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Thayer Garden Club and left at Carter Funeral Home in Thayer.
