Funeral services for Velva Fay Newberry, 96, Cabool, Missouri, formerly of the Caulfield, Missouri area, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 20, 2021, at the Amy Cemetery with Minister John McGinn officiating, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, West Plains.

She was born the daughter of the late William Henry Howard and Effie Evans Howard, on June 26, 1925 in Dora, Missouri and died August 16, 2021 in Cabool, Missouri.

She was united in marriage July 17, 1946 in West Plains, Missouri to Carl Newberry, who preceded her in death February 29, 2000.

She is survived by four children, Linda Ritterbusch and husband David, Bakersfield, Missouri; Lonnie Newberry and wife Debbie, Gladstone, Missouri; Noble Newberry and wife Donna, West Plains, Missouri; Don Newberry and wife Rita, Caulfield, Missouri; three sisters, Dorcas Teer, Cabool, Missouri, Ruth Russell, Dora, Missouri, and Leona Cash, Cabool, Missouri; six grandchildren, Erin Summers and husband Jonathan, Oak Grove, Missouri; Mike Newberry and wife Ann Marie, West Plains, Missouri; Brad Newberry and wife Jennifer, Rover, Missouri; Brian Newberry, Pleasant Hill, Missouri; Kelly Newberry, San Diego, California, and Kimberly Newberry, Lee’s Summitt, Missouri; several great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Jim Howard and an infant brother; three sisters, Edna Lattion, Joyce Collins, and Eunice Trail, and one grandson, Vance Trett.

She attended the Free Union Church of Christ. She was a terrific baker. Her red velvet cake was almost her calling card. She baked great pies also. No one could bake a turkey like Ms. Velva. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Paragould’s Children’s Home or the Amy Cemetery fund, and can be left at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Amy Cemetery under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains.

    Noble and Donna and rest of family. I wasn’t around your mom growing up. Saw her and you dad for the first ti.e at a family reunion. Sending prayers and love to all.
