Sibyl “Midge” (Earls) Richards Pretz was born the daughter of Jonie Floyd Earls and Maggie Tennessee (Montgomery) Earls on January 24, 1928 in Randolph County, Arkansas, and departed this life October 7, 2013 in Thayer, Missouri, at the age of 85 years.
She was united in marriage at Hastings, Nebraska in 1944 to Roy L. Richards. In 1968, she was united in marriage at Bay, Arkansas to Eugene Anthony Pretz, who preceded her in death in May of 2005.
She is survived by three children, Patricia Jean Pruitt, Netty Pearl Greve and husband, George, and Royal Oliver “Duke” Richards and wife, Gabriele, all of Thayer, Missouri; four grandchildren, Ronda MacDonald of Kansas City, Kansas, Daniel Wittenburg of Tucson, Arizona, Shawn Richards of Thayer, Missouri, and Stephanie Richards of Kansas City, Kansas; six great grandchildren; one brother, Ellis W. Cook, Jr. and wife, Patsy, of Bridgeton, Missouri; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Maggie Earls; her husbands; and one sister, Silvia Sue Carter.
Midge was a waitress in several restaurants and especially enjoyed serving her patrons in the two restaurants she owned and operated in Kansas City, Kansas.
She enjoyed trout fishing, catching her limit everytime; embroidery work and watching old western movies. She loved cooking for her family, especially their favorite, homemade chicken and dumplings.
Midge accepted Christ as her Savior, was baptized at an early age, and became a member of the London Heights Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kansas.
Her greatest pleasure in life was serving others, which she did with love and compassion. She will be remembered by her family for her unconditional love and will truly be missed by all.
Funeral services will be Friday, October 11, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri, with Brother Bill Bales officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home in Thayer on Friday, October 11th from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.
