Shane Shipp

Shane William Shipp, son of Judy (Stewart) Shipp Griffin and the late Sherman Shipp, was born on February 14, 1970, in Salem, Arkansas, and departed this life on April 21, 2015, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, at the age of 45.

He is survived by his wife and caregiver, Kenzie of Jonesboro, Arkansas; three sons, Drew Shipp of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Spencer Graves and Tanner Shipp of Hot Springs, Arkansas; one daughter, Adrianna Shipp of the home in Jonesboro, Arkansas; his mother, Judy Griffin and husband, Randy of West Plains, Missouri; one sister, Angie Cuffia and husband, Robby and two nephews, Kade Weatherford and Madden Cuffia, all of Jonesboro, Arkansas; maternal grandmother, Rexine Stewart of West Plains, Missouri; two uncles, Mark Stewart of West Plains, Missouri and Johnny Shipp and wife, Lisa of Thayer, Missouri; several cousins, Shannon, Tammy, Paige, Ian, Amanda, Suzy, Lilly, Johnny and Hannah; and special friend, LaSonya Lacy.

He was preceded in death by his father, Sherman Shipp; paternal grandparents, Ronald and Johnnie Shipp; maternal grandfather, Jack Stewart, and uncle, Jon Stewart.

Shane was quite adventurous and loved all the latest technology. Before his illness, Shane was employed at AT&T and Arkansas Glass Container.

As a child, Shane enjoyed putting together model cars and going on family vacations to Holiday Hills at Lake Norfork. Growing up, Shane was a Cub Scout and became interested in golf where he had many accomplishments. He was a 1988 graduate of Thayer High School and attended college at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Shane was baptized into Christ on March 17, 2015, with his sister and best friend.

Special moments were spent with his children at Craighead Forest Park and Nature Center in Jonesboro. After being diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma in 2013, he continued to fight kidney cancer as a single dad. In 2014, he met McKenzie Pickle, who helped care for him throughout the end of his life. He never stopped smiling or lost his sense of humor. Shane will be remembered as a sweet gentle spirit and loyal friend to all that knew him.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 25, 2015 at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri. A private burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Shane’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or the Paragould Children’s Home and may be left at the funeral home in Thayer.
