Nedra Evelina Ruth Almeda Hice was born the daughter of  Albert T. and Elizabeth Ann (Wickins) Jewell on March 19, 1920 in Koshkonong, Missouri and departed this life December 14, 2012 at her home in Koshkonong at the age of 92 years.

She was united in marriage on March 20, 1938 in Koshkonong to Granvel Hice, who preceded her in death on June 23, 1995.

She is survived by four children, Bob Hice and wife, Denise of Billings, Montana, Herb Hice and wife, Helen of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Etta Willbanks and husband, Bud of Koshkonong, Missouri, and Delbert Hice and wife, Toni of Koshkonong, Missouri; six grandchildren, Melissa, Laura, Natalie, Amy, G.L., and Samantha; twelve great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one sister, Alma Gillispie of Overland Park, Kansas; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Elizabeth Jewell; her husband, Granvel Hice; four sons, Rubin, Ralph, Melvin and William Hice; two daughters, Grace Hice and Marie Harrison; two infants; four brothers, Ivory, Jack, Ted and Richard Jewell; and three sisters, Juanita Reef, Mary Thomas and Alice May.

Nedra was a proud homemaker and worked for some time at the Hilton and Roho poultry plants.  She was known in her community as “Grannie Hice.” She enjoyed quilting, was an excellent cook, and always made sure no one went away hungry. 

She was a Christian and of the Baptist faith and will be remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother.  She will truly be missed by her family and many friends. 

Funeral Services for Mrs. Hice will be at 10:00 AM, Thursday, December 20, 2012 in the Shiloh Grand Gulf Church near Thayer, Missouri.

The family will recieve friends at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, Wednesdsay evening, December 19, 2012.

Burial will be in the Shiloh Grand Gulf Cemetery.

    Cousin Etta and Family, Was so sorry to learn of Aunt Nedra’s passing. She was quite a women. My husband and I really liked our visit with her and Marie’s husband and got to meet your husband in 09 when we stopped and visited for a couple of hours. Hope you and the rest will be able to move on as this is what she would have wanted. Our thoughts and Prayers are with you.
