Molly Ruth (Walthall) Cantrell was born the daughter of Charles William Walthall and Bertha Jane (Fraley) Walthall on July 19, 1935, in Thayer, Missouri, and departed this life November 6, 2013, at her home near Thayer, Missouri, at the age of 78 years.
She was united in marriage on August 4, 1957, in Miami, Oklahoma, to Hershel “Bud” Cantrell, who preceded her in death on August 9, 1995.
She is survived by two children, Randal Cantrell of Thayer, Missouri, and Brenda Walker and husband, David of Henderson, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Anita Sturgeon and husband, Bryan of Rover, Missouri, Monica Van Gent and husband, Mike of San Diego, California, and Lindsay Ressler and husband, Trey of Colorado Springs, Colorado; four great grandchildren, Callie, Jobe, and Emmy Sturgeon and Lainey Van Gent; two brothers, Howard Walthall and wife, Duronda of Independence, Missouri and Dan Walthall and wife, Faye of Galena, Missouri; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Annette Janice Cantrell; and one sister, Lillian Williams.
Molly was an avid reader, and enjoyed quilting, embroidering, and working in her flower garden.
She had been employed at Sears, Roebuck & Company and Montgomery Ward, both in Kansas City, Missouri; Tri-County Shirt Factory in Salem, Arkansas; and worked as a waitress in various local restaurants.
Molly was a member of the Thayer Church of Christ for many years. She will be remembered as a kind and caring lady with a deep devotion to her family. She will truly be missed by her family and many friends.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 10, 2013 at 3:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Thayer on Sunday, November 10th from 2:00 PM until service time.
Burial will be in the Thayer Cemetery, with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.
