Mildred L. Murphy was born the daughter of Edwin Files and Odie (Huffman) Files on May 6, 1928 in Koshkonong, Missouri, and departed this life April 7, 2013 at Shady Oaks Healthcare Center in Thayer, Missouri at the age of 84 years.
She was united in marriage on July 21, 1948 in Thayer, Missouri to Harold Murphy who preceded her in death on November 9, 1996.
She is survived by two nieces, Linda Roark and husband, Vernie of Thayer, Missouri and Rebecca McGary of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; special nephew, Louis Preston and wife, Myra of Cherokee Village, Arkansas; special cousin, Delores French of Thayer, Missouri; special friend, Nora Hollis of Thayer, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Murphy; her parents, Edwin and Odie Files; two brothers, Bobby Files and one infant brother.
Mildred was a dedicated homemaker, an excellent cook, and a skilled seamstress, working for Puritan Fashions in Thayer for many years. She enjoyed working in her garden and reading.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Thayer. She will be remembered as a loving and caring aunt, and a wonderful friend. Mildred will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services for Mrs. will be Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri with Reverend Gerald Bounds officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
The body will lie in state at the Funeral Home in Thayer until 8:00 PM on Monday evening, April 8th.
Burial will be in the Shiloh Grand Gulf Cemetery near Thayer.

I will never forget the great times I had with Aunt Mildred & Uncle Harold as a little girl and later as I got older in life. She was a very sweet and caring person to everyone. I’m blessed to have known her and have her in our family.
