Michael “Mike” James Kelly, age 57, of West Plains, Missouri departed this life Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family as was his wish.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life Thursday evening July 27, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the First Freewill Baptist Church in West Plains, Missouri, with his funeral to follow on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the church also under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains.
Mike was survived by his beloved wife, Sundi and two children, Samantha and Dugan and one granddaughter, Makenna Coy Roberts. Mike was also survived by his mother, Evelyn Sepin, his father, Earl Isom, his adoptive father, Ron Kelly; siblings Art Kelly and wife Melody, West Plains, Missouri, Erin Kelly, Dallas, Texas, Stacy Salazar, Kansas City, Missouri, Joe Isom, Kansas City, Missouri, Gina Isom, Kansas City, Missouri, Tina Edwards and husband Tom, Platte City, Kansas, and Tracy Bustamante and husband, Miguel, Kansas City, Missouri.
Countless additional family and friends he called family will miss his amazing smile and ability to make everyone around him feel better just by being near him.
Mike’s family appreciates the army of caring individuals who took up the mantle in his battle against cancer.
“The Lord will fight for you. You need only to be still.” Exodus 14:14. We can all be still, because Mike has won.
One of Mike’s last requests was that all who attend his service wear bright colors in honor of the beauty of his life and the family looks forward to seeing a rainbow of colors in honor of Mike’s extraordinary life.
Burial will be in Dripping Springs Cemetery, Howell County, Missouri, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains.

We are so sorry for your loss. There are no words sufficient when a beloved husband and father is called home to be with our Lord. We hope in some small way knowing how many friends and family cared about Mike will bolster your courage and strength as you celebrate his life. He was such a good friend to David and we are grateful he touched our lives. May God and his angels hold you close and bless and keep you and the children.
