Melissa Gail King was born the daughter of Dennis Ira King and Ola May (Sisco) King on September 28, 1977 in Springfield, Missouri and departed this life June 16, 2013 in Thayer, Missouri, at the age of 35 years.
She is survived by her mother, May King of Thayer, Missouri; one sister, Deanna (King) Smith and husband, Charles of Thayer, Missouri; her special niece, Jordyn Smith of Thayer, Missouri; a special aunt, Kay Bradley; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dennis King, on March 18, 1992.
Melissa received her Associates Degree from Drury University in Springfield, Missouri.
She loved children and that love was returned by all the children that she cared for, including those attending the Gingerbread House Day Care in Alton, Missouri, where she was employed eight years. Melissa had a caring spirit and always wanted to help others in need.
She collected Barbies; and had a deep love for animals, especially her cat, “Samantha”.
She attended the Thayer First Assembly of God Church in Thayer and will be remembered as a loving and caring daughter, sister, and aunt. She will truly be missed by her family and friends.
Funeral services for Ms. King will be Thursday, June 20, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Thayer First Assembly of God Church in Thayer with Pastor Abel Perez officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer on Wednesday evening, June 19th from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
Burial will be in the Thayer Cemetery with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.
