Mary Jean (Kellett) Wilkerson was born the daughter of Loyd Isaac Kellett and Mamie Ila (Martin) Kellett on December 8, 1932, in St. Louis, Missouri, and departed this life with her family at her side on October 23, 2015, at her home in Thayer, Missouri, at the age of 82 years.
She is survived by her son, Rick Toomey and wife, Tilda of Thayer, Missouri; one granddaughter, Angela Toomey and husband, Paul Wilson of Thayer; one grandson, Brian Toomey of Thayer; one sister, Betty Gazano and husband, John of Oakland, California; one brother, Larry Kellett and wife, Joan of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Loyd and Mamie Kellett; one sister, Peggy Ohanis; and one nephew, Brett Kellett.
She owned and operated Mary’s Beauty Shop in Thayer for several years, and worked in the area as a beautician for more than fifty years.
Mary loved her family and delighted in caring for, and spending time with them. Being a wonderful cook, she was always asked to bring her famous hot rolls to family gatherings. She was an avid reader and enjoyed sewing and quilting. She also had several dearly loved pets.
Mary was a member of Thayer Church of Christ and will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, and a loyal friend. She will truly be missed by her family, her church family and friends.
Funeral Services for Ms. Wilkerson will be Monday, October 26, 2015, at 2:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, with Erman Croney officiating.
The family will receive friends on Sunday evening, October 25th, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home in Thayer.
Burial will be in the Thayer Cemetery.
