Leo Nelson Warren was born the son of the late Major Nelson Warren and Martha Julia Warren (Ford) on January 10, 1945, in Alton, Missouri and departed this life on November 9, 2021 in Thayer, Missouri at the age of 76. 

Leo is survived by his wife Maxine Warren (Honeycutt) of Couch, Missouri; by two children, Todd Warren of West Plains, Missouri, Melanie Sult (Warren) and husband Bill of Ozark, Missouri; six grandchildren, Kelstin, Kenzie, Madelyn, Macey, Maggie, and Kaden; four brothers, Don Warren of Livingston, Tennessee, Cleve Warren and wife Denna of West Plains, Missouri, Clifford Warren and wife Laura of Alton, Missouri, and Dennis Warren and wife Ruth of West Plains, Missouri; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and countless friends.

After graduating from Alton High School in 1963 he met the love of his life, Maxine. They were married May 15, 1965, and spent a wonderful 56 years together. Early in his career he worked for General Motors in St. Louis, however, returned to his beloved home in Thayer where he enjoyed his time as a cattle farmer. Leo was Oregon County’s Presiding Commissioner for over 24 years from 1988 to 2012. After retiring, spending time with his grandchildren was his greatest joy. 

Leo was a Christian and a member of the Pleasant Hill Freewill Baptist Church, and he served the Lord as a devoted deacon, husband, father, and grandfather (Papa). He will truly be missed by his family, friends, and the community in which he lived.

Funeral services for Leo Nelson Warren will be held on Saturday, November 13. 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri with Jason Roberts and Tim Deckard officiating.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 13, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to service time at Carter Funeral Home in Thayer, Missouri.

Burial will be on Saturday, November 13. 2021 in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Thayer, Missouri with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to help pay for the funeral.

    We as a part of your family. Were very shocked as are all of us were about Leo. We are truly sorry for the loss as we feel the pain also. Leo was a great guy, great husband, father and brother. He will be greatly missed by our entire family. We love you always.

      Sorry to hear about the passing of Leo. Leo was truly a well respected person, a real Christian man that lived by his faith in Jesus Christ and encouraged others to do the same, and a person fun , like rest of Warren Brothers, to be around. Leo will truly be missed by his family and all that knew and associated with him
      MAY God be with all Warren.family in this time of loss.
