Kathleen Louise (Hobbs) Mooney was born the daughter of Theo Hobbs and Ruby (Ball) Hobbs on September 16, 1928, in Thayer, Missouri and departed this life September 11, 2013, in Springfield, Missouri at the age of 84 years.

She was united in marriage April 17, 1947 at Mammoth Spring, Arkansas to Bobby Dean Mooney.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Vidar and husband, David of Morristown, Tennessee; one sister, Barbara Cash and husband, Linden of Thayer, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Theo and Ruby Hobbs and her husband, Bob Mooney.

Katie was employed by the Thayer High School as secretary for many years and had also worked at the Bank of Thayer.

She was a lady of many talents; sharing them with others through her paintings, needlework, quilting, music, and her delicious home cooked meals. Katie especially enjoyed quilting and treasured the time she spent with the Thayer First Baptist Church Peace Maker Quilters. She loved people and always had a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Thayer and was a well-known and respected lady with a kind heart, a loving spirit and a deep devotion for her family. She will truly be missed by all.

Graveside services for Mrs. Mooney will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 13, 2013 at the Thayer Cemetery in Thayer, Missouri with Brother Gerald Bounds officiating.

    I just learned of Mrs. Katie’s passing this morning. I am truly saddened I didn’t get to attend her funeral. She meant a lot to me.
