She moved back to Illinois in 1951 after she married John Phillip Botts of Alton, MO and they lived in North Chicago due to his Navy career. Juanita and John eventually purchased a home and settled in Zion, IL where she lived for 45 years.

Sadly, John passed before this dream could be realized but Juanita, always fiercely independent, was determined to complete their dream home on the 80 acres they had purchased years before.
She became a member of Abundant Life Baptist Church and took up selling Avon. Juanita made friends everywhere she went and soon had a life full of activities and friends in Missouri for the next twenty years. She volunteered at a local nursing home with a group that sang to elderly people to bring joy to their days.
In 2017 she moved back to Kenosha, WI to be closer to her family and became active at Pleasant Prairie Baptist Church where she again made many wonderful caring friends. Juanita always had a smile and a kind word for everyone and had a way of drawing others to her with her loving nature. She will be missed by many.
