Jessie Mae Miller was born on May 28, 1926 at Denlow, Missouri to John and Anna Williams. She passed away at the age of 97.
As a teenager, her parents moved to Portland Oregon. She started working at a soda fountain in a drug store. Later, she started working as a welder in the shipyards to help serve her country.
After returning to Denlow, Jessie Mae met the love of her life Lavern Miller when he returned from serving in the army where he followed Patton across Germany.
They were married on April 16, 1946 after getting the preacher out of the tater patch. To this union two daughters were born Betty Jane and Beverly Jean.
Jessie Mae loved crafts, especially crocheting, bowling, fishing for catfish, and hunting on Altizer Ridge also known as Honeymoon Ridge.
Jessie Mae gave her heart to the Lord at a young age. After moving to Pomona, MO, in 1955, she began going to the Christian Church were she was still a member.
She is survived by her daughter Beverly Jean Tooley and husband Kenneth, a son-in-law Perry Durnell; grandchildren Micheal and Sherida Tooley, Scotty and Jennifer Tooley, Christi Grogan, Dean and Lisa Durnell, Gail and Roger Hayes, Stacy and Angie Durnell; thirteen great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren; a special friend and care giver Michelle Lewis; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years; one daughter, Betty Jane Durnell; her parents; four brothers Herman, Essel, Evan, and Vercalle; three sisters Ardith, Faye, and Della Alta and five great grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed by family, her church family, and many friends.
Funeral Services for Jessie Mae Miller, Age 97, of Willow Springs, Missouri, will be held on Monday, December 11, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. At the Pomona Christian Church. Visitation will be from 1:00 till service time.
Interment will be on Monday, December 11, 2023 in the Howell Memorial Park Cemetery, Howell County Missouri with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in West Plains, Missouri
