Jerry Verdain Sharp was born the son of Johnny Verdain Sharp and Emma Lee (Barber) Sharp on February 7, 1942 in Jonesboro, Arkansas, and departed this life April 8, 2013 at his home in Thayer, Missouri at the age of 71 years.
He was united in marriage on August 2, 2002 in Pocahontas, Arkansas to Dianne Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Dianne Sharp of the home; three sons, Jerry W. Sharp and wife, Carolyn of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Victor J. Sharp and wife, Connie of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and Greg Sharp of West Plains, Missouri; one daughter, Jessica Campbell and Le Johnson of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Rachel Sharp and Daniel Sharp, both of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and Braden Campbell of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; two great grandchildren, Colbie Cullum and Sunny Sharp, both of Jonesboro, Arkansas; one brother, Terry Sharp and wife, Linda of Jonesboro, Arkansas; three sisters-in-law, Katherine Ollar and husband, Keith, Paula Hatfield and husband, Jake and Peggy Earls; three aunts, Mary, Ruth and Dorothy; special friends, Larry and Linda Morgan of Fort Worth, Texas; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Emma Sharp, one grandson, Michael Sharp, and a brother-in-law, Denny Earls.
Jerry was a well driller, who owned and operated Sharp Well Company in Jonesboro, Arkansas for over forty years. As a young man, he served in the United States Marine Corp. He loved deer hunting and treasured spending time with his grandson, Braden, teaching him to hunt and enjoy the outdoors.
He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, a wonderful Daddy and Papa, a great uncle, and a loyal friend. Jerry will truly be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, April 11, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri with Pastor Sam Simmonds officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home in Thayer on Wednesday evening, April 10th, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
Burial will be in the Thayer Cemetery with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Oregon County Relay For Life in memory of “Denny Earls”, and may be left at the Funeral Home.
