James Skaggs

James Edward Skaggs was born the son of William Henry Skaggs and Ida Catherine (Duckworth) Skaggs on September 19, 1925, in Braggadocio, Missouri and departed this life October 21, 2013, in West Plains, Missouri at the age of 88 years.

He was united in marriage on April 29, 1950 in Piggott, Arkansas to Olliene Curtis, who preceded him in death on April 26, 2009.

He is survived by one son, James Allen Skaggs of West Plains, Missouri; one daughter, Donna Gail Rainwater and husband, Jerry of Koshkonong, Missouri; four grandchildren, Jamie Lee Rainwater-Hovey and husband, Zack, and Cari Lynn Rainwater, all of West Plains, Missouri, Amy Joy Rainwater of Fenton, Missouri, and Thomas W. Rainwater and wife, Amanda of Fayetteville, North Carolina; one great granddaughter, Ariana Rainwater of Fayetteville, North Carolina; one sister, Mary S. Wion and husband, Jim of Barnhart, Missouri; one brother, Hillis Troy Skaggs and wife, Judy of Englewood, Florida; two sisters-in-law, Darlene Skaggs of Collinsville, Illinois and Gloria Skaggs of Salina, Kansas; one brother-in-law, Bill Curtis and wife, Carian of Ash Flat, Arkansas; several nieces and nephews; his church family; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers, Doyle Odell Skaggs and Bobby Gene Skaggs; and two sisters, Kathryn Delila Skaggs and Mildred Magdeline Skaggs.

James was a car detailer and worked for various automobile companies throughout the years.

He was a Christian and faithfully attended the Christian Tabernacle at Wirth for 48 years. He was an avid reader, especially God’s Word, his Bible. He enjoyed family picnics and the Christian fellowship with his church family.

He will be remembered for his kindness and good nature toward his fellow man and the deep devotion and love for his family and church. He will truly be missed by all.

Funeral Services will be Thursday, October 24, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the Christian Tabernacle at Wirth, Arkansas.

The family will receive friends at the Christian Tabernacle on Thursday from 1:00 PM until time of service.

Burial will be in the Eagles Rest Cemetery with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.

    Donna & Jim Sorry for the lost of your love one. I’m thinking about youall and praying for youall. There is not any words that i can say. Just keep going forward. Do not give up. We know that he is in a better place. When i heard about it. I was thinking he is up there with my mom & dad. Just rejoicing and shuting.
