After dedicating a life to service, James Lloyd Humphrey, Melbourne, Arkansas, died on February 13, 2018. James was born October 7, 1970, in Salem, Arkansas, to Jerry and Judith Humphrey. James was united in marriage to Novella Jett Humphrey. He was a 1989 graduate of Mammoth Spring High School and the South Central Area Vocational School. He later attended Ozarka College and the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy (1998-Class D). As a law enforcement officer, he served as a Fulton County Deputy, Izard County Criminal Investigator, and a special agent for the 16th Judicial Drug Task Force. In addition to law enforcement, James served fourteen years as a fireman and first responder. He was a deacon in the Melbourne First Baptist Church. As a special agent, he received medals of commendation from the DEA and the US Attorney’s Office. Yet, James’ greatest pride and happiness was found in his two children, Jared and Natalie.

Survivors include his wife, Novella; two children, Jared Humphrey and Natalie Humphrey; his parents, Jerry and Judy Humphrey; one sister, Joy Poulette (Donnie); his in-laws, Lester and Mozella Jett; one sister-in-law, Tonya Jedlicka (Dale); one brother-in-law, Navy Lieutenant Commander Leslie Jett; two uncles, Sam Casey (Brenda) and Floyd Casey; special neighbors, Dan and Betty Garwood; and a host of extra sons and daughters that were always welcomed in his home and heart.

He was preceded in death by his beloved paternal grandparents, Fred and Ruby Humphrey; maternal grandparents, Henry and Mary Casey; and one uncle, Thurman Casey.

He was a wonderful husband, loving father, and a friend to all. He will be greatly missed, but we have the peace of God knowing that he is with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
