Helen Augusta Russell was born the daughter of Clarence Lassiter and Bertha Whiteside Lassiter on January 10, 1929 in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas and departed this life on October 26, 2021 at Shady Oaks Healthcare in Thayer, Missouri at the age of 92 years.

She was united in marriage to James E. Russell on August 31, 1947 in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas who preceded her in death on July 10, 2019.  They spent almost seventy-two wonderful years together.

Helen is survived by four children, Carol Anita Presley and husband Lee, Levata Ann Washam and husband Dale, James Joey Russell and wife Shiela, and Jacqueline Sue Vest and husband Ron, all of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, Cherie Carr, Derek Presley, Leigha Presley, Brad Washam, Candace Lehman, Allen Russell, Kayly King and Jessy Jo Martin; twenty-five great and great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; other relatives; and countless friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Bertha Lassiter; her husband, James Russell; one daughter, Katherine Elane Russell; and two sisters, Ruby Ferguson and Dortha Crase.

Helen was a Christian and a long-time member of the Mammoth Spring First Baptist Church.  She loved God and the Bible, it was her strength.

She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.  She was a homemaker who was always dedicated to her family.  She left us all with precious memories and she will be missed by all who knew her and loved her.

Graveside services for Helen Russell will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Thayer, Missouri in Thayer, Missouri with T.B. Smith officiating.

Burial will be on Saturday, October 30. 2021 in Thayer Cemetery in Thayer, Missouri with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer, Missouri.

    Our sympathy to Helen’s family and friends. She was a beautiful lady who loved her family dearly and lived her faith setting a good example for all.

    Helen was a beautiful lady and an amazing Christian woman. I will always remember having supper at Jim and Helen’s because her macaroni and cheese was the best ever! I know Helen will be missed here on earth, but Jim was happy to see her again in Heaven.
