Harriett (Susie) Whitsell came into this world August 30, 1937, in West Plains, Missouri, the daughter of Albert and Beulah Cherry, and peacefully left it on November 4, 2023, at her home in West Plains, Missouri.

She was married to Phil Whitsell who preceded her in death in 2020.

She is survived by one son, Greg Whitsell, West Plains, Missouri; four grandchildren, Madison Reid and husband Wyatt, West Plains, Missouri and Trenton Eades and wife Susie, West Plains, Missouri; Jacob Whitsell, West Plains, Missouri and Nicole Whitsell, Reed Springs, Missouri; two great grandchildren, Luke Reid and Phillip Eades, both of West Plains, Missouri.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Regina Eades and one son-in-law, Bob Eades, and two brothers, Jim Cherry and Dennis Cherry.

She was member of the First Baptist Church in West Plains, Missouri, where she was very involved in all the activities of the church. She loved to run, and you would see her out early every morning. She was a big fan of all the high school and college athletics. She was a big animal lover and big supporter of the West Plains Animal Shelter. She loved to do calligraphy, and in her earlier years, her husband and her loved to square dance.

Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church in West Plains, Missouri, Thursday, November 9, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.

Burial will be held at Oak Lawn Cemetery, West Plains, Missouri, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the West Plains Animal Center, and can be left at the funeral home.

    Our Deepest Sympathy to all of you on the passing of Susie. She was a wonderful Christian lady who had a very caring personality and always there for others. Her smile, sense of humor, her laughter which could light up a room, and her caring attributes will be missed. At this time we will be keeping all of you in our daily prayers and thoughts. May God give each of you peace, strength, comfort, and encouragement daily and may God bless all of you.

    BEAUTIFUL LADY! Loved her and Phil with all my heart! Susie was one of the sweetest Cousins I ever had! She and Phil were an outstanding couple really in love with each other. Susie was a wonderful caregiver of Phil during during his final days! She was one of Gods greatest caretakers on HIS wonderful Earth!!! We will be miss her but Phil and God is glad to have her home!!!

    Susie was a great women she would come see me and my son everyday when we lived down from her she’s bring him change she was always smiling she sure was an angle sent from heaven, I pray for her family’s healing. We will definitely miss her . God has an amazing angle now. ❤️

    My deepest condolences to all the family. Susie was unfailingly kind and cheerful as well as capable and hard working. Every memory I have of her is sweet. She will be truly missed.
