Glenden “Glen” Doris Crass, was born the son of Robert Crass and Claudia (Hartwell) Crass on March 10, 1935, in Myrtle, Missouri, and departed this life on January 23, 2017, in West Plains, Missouri, at the age of 81 years.

He was united in marriage on December 7, 1982, in Thayer, Missouri, to Holly Simmons.

He is survived by his wife, Holly Crass of the home in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; one son, Dwight Crass of Koshkonong, Missouri; three daughters, Rebecca Jewell and husband, Russel, Heather Risner and husband, Clay, and Robin Holder and husband, Robert, all of Thayer, Missouri; eleven grandchildren, Ethan Vanderburg, Jacob Crass, Hunter Crass, Nick Jewell and wife, Shelby, Sarah Jewell, Colby Risner, Peyton Risner, Hayden Crass, Kale Davis, and Laura Beth Holder; three great grandchildren; one brother, Harold Sam Crass; one sister, Sue Crass; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Claudia Crass; two daughters, Janella Crass and Jeana Vanderburg; four brothers, Blanton Crass, Gerald Crass, Charles Crass, and Harry Crass; one infant brother; and two sisters, Mary Freeman and Lenore Stevens.

Glen was a graduate of Couch High School, where he received honors as an outstanding baseball athlete. After high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Army. While serving, he played basketball for the Army athletic program.

He began his working career as a carpenter. Later, he was employed as a brakeman for the railroad, retiring after many years of service.

Glen enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was a great story teller. Most of all, he was a wonderful Papa. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, who were the love of his life.

He will truly be missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services for Glenden “Glen” Crass, age 81, of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, will be held Friday, January 27, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri with Brother Clay Risner officiating.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 26, 2017 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Carter Funeral Home in Thayer, Missouri.

Burial will be in Thayer Cemetery in Thayer, Missouri with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home in Thayer.
