Emma Belle “Nene” (Dawson) Flynn was born the daughter of Isaac B. Dawson and Nancy J. (Crowder) Dawson on February 4, 1920, at Koshkonong, Missouri, and departed this life on January 22, 2016, in Salem, Arkansas, at the age of 95 years.
She was united in marriage on December 2, 1940, at Alton, Missouri, to Vernon A. Flynn, who preceded her in death on August 1, 1983.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary Ragsdale of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; one daughter-in-law, Janie Flynn of Mammoth Spring; three grandchildren, Ricky Ragsdale and wife, Beth, Rae Lynn Simers and husband, Steve, and Joe Flynn and wife, Tiffany, all of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; eight great grandchildren, Kayla Rose and husband, Forrest, Lindsey Ragsdale, Brittany Simers, Jacob Simers, Taylor Noakes Guffey and husband, John, Coby Noakes, Zack Flynn and Payton Flynn; one brother, David Dawson of Mountain Home, Arkansas; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac and Nancy Dawson; her husband, Vernon Flynn; two children, Jack Flynn, and one infant; one son-in-law, Cordell Ragsdale; one granddaughter, Julie Dawn Flynn Noakes; two sisters, Maye Gilbert and Ellen Marie Pratt; two brothers, Oliver and William Dawson.
“Nene” was a dedicated homemaker. More than anything else, she loved caring for her family and spending time with them. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening and baking, and especially loved treating her family to homemade cookies and doughnuts.
She was an active member of the Home Extension Club of Fulton County for many years.
Emma was a member of the Church of Christ at Camp, Arkansas, and will be remembered as a loving and caring mother and “Nene”. She will truly be missed by all.
Funeral services for Mrs. Flynn will be held, Monday, January 25, 2016, at 10:00 AM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri, with Larry Yarber officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer on Sunday, January 24th from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
Burial will be in Fryatt Cemetery at Fryatt, Arkansas, with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Fryatt or Camp Cemeteries and may be left at the Funeral Home in Thayer.
