Once there was a three year old little boy. He and his momma were traveling down a stretch of highway between Thayer and West Plains.
His momma looked into the rear view mirror and saw her son with a big grin on his face and his big blue eyes beaming. He was looking out the windows waving….
His momma asked “What are you smiling and waving at? The sweet little voice from the backseat replied, “The angels mommy, they are all around us.”
That sweet Little Boy was our Eli….
Fifteen years have passed by and Eli was traveling that same road, but again, Eli was NOT ALONE….
This time Eli’s angels carried him home….

Eli Pounders was born the son of Jeremy Pounders and Susan Brewer Pounders on July 12, 1993 in Springfield, Missouri and went home to be with the Lord on November 8, 2011 in Oregon County, Missouri at the age of 18 years.
He is survived by his parents, Jeremy Pounders and Susan Brewer Pounders; five sisters, Capri, Adriana, Abby, Maddy and Katie, all of the family home in Thayer, Missouri; a special brother, Hunter Coffel of Thayer, Missouri; the love of his life, Lauren Mackey of Thayer, Missouri; his maternal grandparents, Paul and Cecile Brewer and paternal grandfather, Wayne Pounders, all of Thayer, Missouri; his aunts and uncles, Vicki McDaniel, Tim and Tammy Ward, Tony and Becky Brewer and Barbie and Chris Simmons, all of Thayer, Missouri; Buffie and Ronnie Reynolds of Koshkonong, Missouri; Jodie and Bonnie Pounders of West Plains, Missouri; his cousins, Michael Burnett of Columbia, Missouri, Michelle Burnett, Tiffany Mills and Josh McDaniel, all of Thayer, Missouri, Jason Ward of Wardell, Missouri; April and Andy Mills, Paul and Alyssa Brewer, Austin and Monica Brewer, Dakota Brewer, Tanner and Marylee Simmons, all of Thayer, Missouri and Kirk Reynolds of Koshkonong, Missouri and many more cousins, great aunts, uncles and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Mary Jane Pounders; paternal great grandparents, Glen Edward and Margaret Ellen Kirk and Percy and Inez Pounders; maternal great grandparents, Ralph and Nellie Young Brewer and Earl and Ruth Stuart Crain.
Eli was a 2011 graduate of Thayer High School and a freshman at Missouri State University in West Plains, Missouri, seeking a degree in either Law Enforcement or a teaching degree in History.
He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and target shooting and making people laugh. Eli loved spending time with his family, Hunter, and the love of his life, Lauren Mackey.
Eli was a Christian who loved the Lord and attended Evening Light Message Church in Thayer, Missouri.
Funeral services will be Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the Carter Funeral Home Chapel at Thayer, Missouri with Brother Jerry Amalong and Reverend Paul Brewer officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, November 11th from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Thayer Cemetery with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.
