Doris Jean (Baker) Shepard was born the daughter of Samuel Merimon Baker and Mary Maebell (Huffman) Baker on March 13, 1929, at Koshkonong, Missouri, and departed this life on July 6, 2013, at Southfork River Therapy and Living Center in Salem, Arkansas at the age of 84 years.

She was united in marriage October 1, 1946 at Salem, Arkansas, to Leo Shepard, who preceded her in death on August 27, 1999.

She is survived by one son, Ronald Shepard; one sister, Marilyn Sue Barber and husband, Duane of Viola, Arkansas; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Mae Baker; her husband, Leo Shepard; three brothers, Jessie, James, and Ralph Baker; and two sisters, Dessa Stottlemyre and Ruby Horner.

Doris was a good seamstress and loved needlework, especially crocheting.

She was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, where she enjoyed playing Bingo.

She was a dedicated homemaker and will be remembered as a loving sister and great friend. She will truly be missed by all who knew her.

Graveside Services were Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the Thayer Cemetery in Thayer, Missouri with Reverend Harold Cotter officiating. Burial was in the Thayer Cemetery, with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.
