Donald Stephens

Donald Eugene Stephens was born the son of James Pleasant Stephens and Theora Marie Stephens on October 10, 1938, in Wilson Township, Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, and departed this life April 20, 2018, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, at the age of 79 years.

He was united in marriage on August 12, 1967, in Rockford, Illinois, to Gayle Stone.

He is survived by his wife, Gayle Stephens of the home in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; three sons, Gene Pleasant Stephens and wife, Amy Gail of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, Thomas Hogan Stephens and wife, Amy Rebekah of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Aubrey Albert Stephens and wife, Deanna Lea of Mammoth Spring; six grandchildren, Shadoe Levi Shawn Stephens, Montana Ray Stephens and wife, Lorean, Luke Hogan Stephens, Rachel Reed Stephens, Loren Nicole Stephens, and Brianna Nacole Stephens; two great grandchildren, Shadoe Lee Stephens and Lydia Ann Stephens; two sisters, Shirley Ann Gunn of Lakeland, Florida and Norenda Marie James of Jonesboro, Arkansas; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Theora Stephens.

Donald, along with his family, were dairy farmers, owning some of the best dairy cows in the area. He was a hard worker and enjoyed working on the farm with his favorite toy, his Massey Ferguson tractor.

He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting for raccoons and deer. Most of all, Donald loved Gayle’s good home style cooking.

Donald was a faithful member of the Old Welcome Hill Church of Christ, attending as long as health permitted.

He will truly be missed by his family, church family, and the community in which he lived.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at 2:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri, with Chuck Richardson officiating.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 24th from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will be in Camp Cemetery, at Camp, Arkansas, with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.
