Clarence Madden

Clarence Burton Madden was born the son of Silas Burton Madden and Minnie Isabel Braden Madden on October 8, 1934, in Thayer, Missouri, and departed this life January 19, 2018, at his home in Thayer, Missouri, at the age of 83 years.

He was united in marriage to Joy Marie Farrell, who preceded him in death on May 29, 1978. He was united in marriage on October 7, 2010, in Baltimore, Maryland to Rose Bullock.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Madden of the home in Thayer, Missouri; two children, Michael Burton Madden of Frederick, Maryland and Michele Suzanne Attwood of Catonsville, Maryland; six grandchildren, Michael Madden, Jr., Nicholas Madden, Kelsey Attwood, Scott Attwood, Kaitlin Attwood, and Brandon Griggs; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Silas and Minnie Madden; his wife, Joy Madden; three brothers, Cleo, Clyde, and Carroll Madden; and one sister, Clarabell Smith.

Clarence proudly served his country in the United States Army. He received numerous awards and medals including, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, and the Army of Occupation Medal for services rendered.

Clarence retired as a Brakeman from the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, after many years of service.

He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed going on trail rides, hunting, fishing, being with his family, and loved strawberry milk shakes.

Clarence was a member of the VFW Post # 3026 and the American Legion in Maryland.

He attended Mt. Zion Free Will Baptist Church as long as health permitted. He will truly be missed by his family, church family, and many friends.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at 2:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, with Brother Craig Hensley officiating.

The family will receive friends Monday, January 22, 2018 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel.

Interment will be in the Walker Cemetery with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.

    Rose and family, we will also miss seeing Jr. at the Fish fries and get together. Our sympathy goes out to you and yours. always the Myers
