Shirley Ward
Shirley (Collins) Ward, age 70, of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas passed away March 26, 2023, in West Plains, Missouri surrounded by loved ones. She was born May 30, 1952, to James L. (Jim) Collins and Hazel (Robinson) Collins in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas. Shirley married the love of her life Bobby Ward November 2, 1971, in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas. In this union they had three children Michelle, Clint and Jimmy.
Shirley enjoyed reading and working outside in her garden. She loved spending her time with the grandchildren, sewing clothes for them and her children. She liked to cook and feed everyone that would come over. Shirley especially like to set down with her family and watch “The Walking Dead.”
For many of years Shirley was a member of the First Baptist Church in Thayer, Missouri. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
She is survived by her husband; one daughter Michelle Sims, husband Roy; two sons Clint Ward and Jimmy Ward, wife Tasha; five grandchildren Brett, Amber, Blaire, Peyton and Owen; five great-grand-children; one brother Darrell Collins; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother Delmer Collins; four sisters Zola Case, Margie Pendarvis, Yuvonne Dillard and Juanita Cotham; and one infant brother.
Funeral services for will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri. Visitation will be Tuesday March 28, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Interment will be on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, in Flint Cemetery, Mammoth Spring, Arkansas with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer, Missouri.
Mary Imogene (Langley) Peace
Mary Imogene Langley Peace
Mary Imogene Langley Peace, of Thayer, Missouri, passes away on March 24, 2023, celebrating her 90th birthday in Heaven.
She was born to the late Roy and Myrtle Langley on March 24, 1933, at Rose Hill near Thayer, Missouri. Imogene attended Thayer High School and worked at Puritan Fashions Factory and Paddle & Saddle outlet in Mammoth Spring. She was a member of the Mammoth Spring First Baptist Church and in later years the Thayer First Baptist Church. Imogene was known for her spunk and sense of humor. She was also known for her huge heart and love of family and friends, inviting them into her home for home-cooked meals and sharing her hand-crafted treasures, such as quilts, necklaces, or stuffed animals. She had a 40+ years of collections of music boxes, which are now shared with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a diehard fan of Thayer Bobcat sports, the Cardinals, Mizzou, and Democrats.
She was married to Ray Peace in 1962 who proceeded her in death. Survivors include 2 sons: Billy Pitchford (Cindy) of Springfield, MO, and Jackie Peace (Leanne) of Columbia, MO and their families. She is also survived by her adopted sister : Dorothy Meeks, daughter-in-law Sheila Smith and family, daughter-in-law Marla Smith, daughter-in-law Nora Coats-Smith and family, and adopted daughter, Gina Tucker and family, 11 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson. In addition, she had several lifelong family friends, such as Nancy Ames; and multiple nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sons: Sony Smith of Buckeye, AZ; Bob Smith of Thayer, MO, and Keith Smith of Thayer, MO, and her brother, Jack Langley.
There will be no community service, per her wishes. She chose to give the gracious gift of her body to science to further medical education. However, you can think of her fondly during this Cardinal season.

Robert Steven Alford
Steve Alford, age 76 of Thayer, Missouri passed away March 21, 2023, in Springfield, Missouri. He was born December 25, 1946, in Alton, Missouri.
Steve married the love of his life Janet Tucker on June 23, 1987, in Thayer, Missouri. Steve served in the Army for a few years. He then worked in the oil fields for many of years and in his spare time he enjoyed autobody work and painting automobiles. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
He is survived by his wife Janet; one daughter Natalie Kavanaugh, Husband Mark; two sons Stoney Cypret, wife Tiffany and Johnny Cypret, wife Christie; seven grandkids Kristopher Alford, wife Abby, Lance Schneider, wife Michelle, Adeline Cypret, Jasper Cypret, Eric Williams, wife Brooke, Ashley Williams, significant other Nick Sims and Clay Williams; several great-grandkids; one brother Charles Alford, wife Bobbie; two sisters Lorene Peters, husband Richard, Rita Pikowshy, husband Robert; one very special Aunt Betty Crabtree.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri. Visitation will be Saturday March 25, 1:00 p.m. until time of service.

Shirley Jean Henry
Shirley Jean Henry, 53 of Thayer, Missouri passed away March 15, 2023, at her home surrounded by loved ones. She was born December 4, 1969, in Salem, Arkansas to Linda Sue Reeves.
She was united in marriage on February 6, 1998, in Alton, Missouri to Randall Dale Henry. Within this union two children were born, Cheyenne Rena Henry and Rebecca Lynn Henry both of Thayer, Missouri.
Shirley enjoyed going fishing, playing bingo, going bowling and scratching lottery tickets. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
She is survived by four children Amanda Jean Branscum, Crystal Renee Baker, Cheyenne Renea Henry and Rebecca Lynn Henry, husband Greg all of Thayer, Missouri; fifteen grandchildren Barton, Kirsten, Kylie, Haylie, Kizie, Maddison, Kianna, Nichole, Stanley, Ahmearah Mae, Rayne, Kaisleigh, Jr, Abby and Aubrey; two great-grandchildren Ella and Paxton; one sister Donna Sue Bransum of Bradford, Arkansas; three brothers Ronnie Dale Branscum of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, Ricky Lee Branscum, wife Sarah of Glenco, Arkansas, and Jerry Lynn Peterson of Thayer, Missouri.
She is preceded in death by her mother; her husband; one sister Leveda Ann Branscum; and one son Keith Waymon Tune.

Noel L. Mills
Noel L. Mills was born January 18, 1929 in Heart, Arkansas to James and Ella (Mooney) Mills. He departed this life on March 16, 2023, at his home in Mammoth Spring at the age of 94. He was united in marriage on August 5, 1959, to Willa Faye Stroud and to this union four children were born.
Noel proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1951-1953 and was part of Operation Buster Jangles, a nuclear bomb test in the Nevada desert. He was a man of many talents. He worked hard all of his life and was a wonderful provider for his family. He retired from the Suburban Improvement District of Cherokee Village as the maintenance supervisor after over 30 years of service. He was a farmer and enjoyed life on the farm. He was an avid gardener and loved to share his harvest with his family and friends. He was a musician, teaching himself how to play by ear. He played the mandolin, banjo, fiddle, and guitar. He loved playing music with his friends from the Heart and Saddle area and at church. He loved to watch a good ballgame and enjoyed watching his kids and grandkids play sports. He also loved the Arkansas Razorbacks. On Friday nights, you could always find him watching a boxing match. His greatest joy was his wife, kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. He loved to laugh and joke and always had a smile to share with others. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Mammoth Spring and attended as long as his health allowed. He was the best Husband, Dad and Papa and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Willa Faye Mills of the home; four children: Shelia Young of Mammoth Spring, AR, Charlene Riley and husband Rick of Thayer, MO, Jim Mills of Mammoth Spring, AR, and Tammy Jones and husband Chris of Mammoth Spring, AR. Six grandchildren: Clint Young, Luke Young, Sara Busch and husband Gage, Amy Turnbough and husband Nick, Taylor Mills and wife April, and Emily Pyland and husband Evan. Seven great grandchildren: Callie Jo and Cody Young, Judson and Quinn Busch, and Ella, Addy, and Ash Turnbough; one sister-in-law, Mary Faith Harmon and one brother-in-law, Dale McCord along with many other family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Novalene Mills, Carolyn Mills, Leveda McCord, Claudette Mills, and Colene Faye Mills; his brothers, Eldon Mills, Oral Mills, and Doyle Mills; and one son-in-law, Harry Young.
Visitation will be on Saturday, March 18, 2023 from 6 pm – 8pm at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel – Thayer, Missouri.
Services will be on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at 2 pm at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel – Thayer, Missouri.
Internment will be at the Burks Chapel Cemetery of Camp, Arkansas on Sunday, March 19, 2023.

William Swain “Bill” Perkins
William Swain “Bill” Perkins, 77, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 15, 2023.
Bill was born in Springfield, Missouri to William and Lena (Swain) Perkins on July 15, 1945.
Bill attended Koshkonong schools exceling in baseball, basketball and band. He then attended Arkansas State University playing baseball through college and serving as President of his fraternity, Pi Kappa Alpha. Bill started law school at the University of Arkansas where he gained lifelong friends and thereafter, returned home to practice law with Pat Freeman.
During that same time period, Bill met Karen Carhart and they were married March 11, 1972.
Over the next 40 years, Bill practiced law in Southern Missouri and Northern Arkansas while Karen worked together with him running the Eleven Point River Title Company. Bill was involved in politics serving as a Missouri Delegate in 1976 at the Democratic Convention selecting Jimmy Carter to run for President. During the course of his career, Bill served as Prosecuting Attorney for Oregon County and City Attorney for Thayer along with representing many clients from the surrounding communities in his private practice. Bill was a Member of The Missouri Bar and Masonic Lodge, Shriner, Past-President and Paul Harris Fellow for the Thayer-Mammoth Spring Rotary Club, longtime supporter of the Thayer Bobcats sports teams and Vestry Member at All Saints Episcopal Church in West Plains. Bill loved the St. Louis Cardinals, riding around the farm and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Karen G. Perkins; children, Lauren Perkins Allen and William Clayton Perkins (his wife,Laura); and grandchildren, Ella, Rainey and Sydney.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Union Hill Cemetery.
Mary Callahan Hutchinson
Mary Irene (Hurst) Callahan Hutchinson, 94, of Pocahontas, Arkansas, formerly of Pontiac, Illinois entered into her eternal heavenly home on March 11, 2023.She was born on September 3, 1928, in Many Islands, Arkansas to Lewis Pickney Hurst and Minnie Mae Byrd.
Family was most important to Mary, and she was very involved in family activities. She loved to bowl, play Bingo and go dancing.
Mary loved to laugh, have a good time and always put others first. She was a loving wife, mother, granny, and friend. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her two daughters Regenia Rakoczy (Walter) and Donna Frailey (Jim) both of Pocahontas, Arkansas; one son Chuck Callahan (Sharon) of Thayer, Missouri; eighteen grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren and one on the way; and 21 great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; three husbands Jack Robinson; Edgar Callahan and Elmer Hutchinson; two sons Junior Dean Robinson and Lavon Callahan; two grandsons; three brothers John Hurst, Louis Hurst and Harold Hurst; four sisters Ethel Downs, Julie Justus, Zula Peterson and Lois Barrick.
The family would like to thank the staff of Randolph County Nursing Home for the love and care they extended to Mary and her family during her time at the nursing home.

Rocky Pierce
Rockford Dale Pierce, 74, of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas passed away March 7, 2023, in Mountain Home, Arkansas. He was born December 26, 1948, in Thayer, Missouri to Madison and Mary Jane (Cerutti) Pierce.
Rocky loved fishing, especially cooking it for everyone that came to visit him. He enjoyed being outdoors bushhogging, deer hunting, cutting firewood, working in his garden, and raising his rabbits. He loved being surrounded by his family and friends every morning down at the Beverage Shoppe.
He worked at Leon’s garage in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas with his brother Jim for many years. After retirement Rocky opened and operated Pierce Garage. Rocky went to Shilo church in Thayer, Missouri with his momma. He might be gone but will forever be in our hearts, souls, and minds. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
He is survived by his four children Cheryl Walsh, husband Denny, Brad, wife Sonya, Tony, wife Stephanie and Isaphene Pierce; three brothers Jim, wife Diane, Jesse, wife Denise and Chester, wife Ellen; one sister Barbara Humphries, husband Larry; one sister-n-law Deniece Pierce; ten grandchildren Jessica Corbett, husband Brad, Jodie Walsh, wife Alexis, Taylor Walsh, Shane Stevens, Forrest Walsh, wife Alayana, Samantha Barnes, husband Michael, Colten Pierce, wife Amy, Raylea Pierce, Anthony Pierce, Kevin Sandridge; sixteen great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother Steve Pierce; two sisters Betty Albright and Rose Pierce; one brother-n-law Marvin Albright, two nephews Aitken Gallup and Matthew Allen Pierce.
Graveside service for Rocky Pierce, 74, of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas will be Sunday, March 12, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas.
William Lloyd Burns
William L Burns was born February 21, 1929, in Alabama to William Lafayette and Eula Mae (Bartlett) Burns. Bill Burns entered his heavenly home on March 6, 2023.
He married the love of his life, Imogene Marie Burns, to whom he was married over 50 years, and they soon moved to Mammoth Spring, where he had secured a job as an auto mechanic at the Ford dealership, to start their life together. They raised two children, Terry and Larry, in Mammoth Spring, and after Imogene’s passing in 2010 he remarried later to Rita Burns, who still resides in Mammoth Spring.
He owned and operated Mammoth Spring Auto Service and Radio Shack for many years until his retirement in the mid 1990s. He liked working on mechanical things and did so for many years after retiring. He enjoyed mowing and just generally working in the yard and being outside well into his 90s, and was able to do so up until just his last few months. He was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps and had experiences there that shaped his life, his business, and resulted in many lifelong friends. He was a member of the Mammoth Spring Church of Christ.
He is preceded in death by his parents,one brother, two sisters, and his wife Imogene.
He is survived by his two sons, Terry and Larry Burns, and a daughter, Carol, from a very early marriage prior to joining the Marines and his marriage to Imogene several years afterward. He is also survived by grandchildren Ryan, Aidan, and Ava, and step grand- and great-grandchildren Katlyn, Shaunda, Isaac, Peyton, Madison, Jaxon, Benson, and Barron.
A Graveside service will be held on Monday, March 13, 2023 at 12p.m., at the Riverside Cemetery of Mammoth Springs, Arkansas.
