Carol Dean Cochran McGuire was born the daughter of Arch Cochran and Lora Nettie Martin Cochran on January 24, 1938, in Camp, Arkansas, and departed this life December 4, 2017, in Gonzales, Louisiana, at the age of 79 years.
She was united in marriage on June 20, 1959, in Kansas City, Kansas, to John McGuire, who preceded her in death on September 8, 2004.
She is survived by two sons, Dan McGuire and daughter-in-law, Cindy McGuire and Sam McGuire and daughter-in-law, Linda McGuire; seven grandchildren, Haley McGuire, Ashlie Lay and husband, Anthony Lay, Larry Murray and wife, Beth Murray, Chance McGuire Tina Kemmerling and husband, Donald, Chris Hennard and wife, Chelsea, and Randy Swank; seven great grandchildren, Parker Murray, Hannah Lay, Grace Lay, Gibson Murray, Daylan Kemmerling, Demi Kemmerling, and Amelia Hennard; two sisters, Sue Poulette and brother-in-law, Leroy Poulette, and Eleanor Dodd; two brothers, Ollie Cochran and Eugene Cochran; sisters-in-law, Betty Lambert and Paulette McGuire; brother and sister-in-law, Anthony and Lynn McGuire, brother and sister-in-law, Tim and Karen McGuire; nieces and nephews, Dennis and Genia Poulette, Debbie and Rusty Hyde, Sherman and Kathy Dodd, Roger Dodd, Dale and Barbara Dodd, Kelley McGuire, John McGuire, Kevin and Kris McGuire, Kati and Mike Hoeniges, Molli McGuire, Megan and Wes Thoennes, Erin and Chris Loranger, Kirk and Gabby Lambert, Paula and Dennis McSwain, Mark and Nancy Lambert, Barbara and Luther Dearborn, Cindy and Mike Clift, Jennifer and Darby Milner, Debbie and Steve Miller, Kim and Jim Hart, Pam and Danny Busch, George and Sheron Cochran, Linda Spoor, and Sandra Spoor; many great-nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arch and Lora Cochran; her husband, John McGuire; three brothers, Archie Ray Cochran, Sam Cochran, and Wayne Spoor; one brother-in-law, Jerry McGuire; three sisters-in-law, Ripple Cochran, Barbara Cochran and Mary Spoor; and one nephew, Jack Spoor.
Carol was a graduate of Koshkonong High School.
She enjoyed the company of her family, cooking, gardening, working on the family farm, shopping, and listening to music.
Along with her husband, she and John owned and operated Dogwood Trails Restaurant in Thayer for several years.
Carol was a Christian lady and faithfully attended church as long as health permitted.
She was deeply devoted to her family and will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She will truly be missed by her family and friends.
Funeral Services for Mrs. McGuire will be held Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri.
The family will receive friends at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, December 8th from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
Burial will be in the Thayer Cemetery with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.

The McGuire Family ~ Dan (Cindy), Sam (Linda), Haley & Chance,
You are in our thoughts, hearts and most of all our prayers. The memories of Carol are so many to mention, but a few that stand out are:
The summer & Christmas vacations spent with her & John. Summer was bailing hay and visiting her at the trout farm, then helping her cook in the kitchen. After dinner was tv (before cable) or games. Christmas was her favorite. She couldn’t wait to have us there. Weeks before our arrival was spend on the phone planing cooking, who was baking what, to discussion of everyone’s gifts. She loved having everyone at home with a nice fire going. Very fond memories and oh the sharing of stories. She loved her boys, was hard on them….but because of that they are the outstanding men in their industry today.
Carol and I shared a love not only for family, but for cooking and gardening. I will always cherish the hours of talks over the years and recipes and spring and fall gardens. She saw things in me and pushed me to peruse them. She bought me my first camera set up. The years were filled with so many photos of the things she loved.
Carol will forever be my 2nd mom, my friend and my love for her was/is/always will be forever and ever. I will miss you my dear friend. Give John, mother and daddy a hug for me.
