Bernadine C. Thomas was born the daughter of William Chamness and Mildred (Massey) Chamness on November 24, 1930, in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, and departed this life July 11, 2015, at Shady Oaks Healthcare in Thayer, Missouri, at the age of 84 years.
She was united in marriage to John Thomas, who preceded her in death on September 8, 1993.
She is survived by two daughters, Brenda Todd and husband, Norman of Thayer, Missouri, and Becki Britton of Thayer, Missouri; six grandchildren, Savannah Britton, Tyler Bonds, Derek Protonentis, Michelle Dickson, Kameha Todd, and Chad Horton; nine great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mildred Chamness; one son, Michael Thomas; one son-in-law, Bruce Britton; one brother, Bud Chamness, and one sister, Evelyn Lowry.
Mrs. Thomas was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas.
She was a dedicated homemaker and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and dear friend. She will truly be missed by her family and friends.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at 11:00 AM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer. The family will receive friends Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM until service time.
The body will lie in state at the Funeral Home in Thayer on Monday evening, July 13th, from 4:00 until 8:00 PM.
Burial will be in the Thayer Cemetery with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.
