Geraldine “Geri” (Sinclair) Ream was born the daughter of William Riley Sinclair and Mattie (Butcher) Sinclair on December 4, 1923, in Houma, Louisiana and departed this life December 16, 2013, in West Plains, Missouri at the age of 90 years.

She was united in marriage on December 25, 1952 in San Francisco, California to Dr. Robert Russell Ream, who preceded her in death on November 8, 2001.

She is survived by one son, Dr. Scott Ream and wife, Pam of West Plains, Missouri; one daughter, Dr. Anne Ream and husband, Creig Schuster of West Plains, Missouri; three grandchildren, Delaney Ream, Haley McCall and Matthew McCall; one sister, Fredia Roller of Kinsley, Kansas; a host of nieces and nephews; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dr. Robert R. Ream; six brothers, Richard, Bill, John, Bob, Raymond, and Harold Sinclair.

Mrs. Ream and her husband, Dr. Robert R. Ream, owned Ream Optometry in Thayer, where she worked as office manager for many years.

She was civic minded and active in her community, serving as Mayor of the City of Thayer for two terms. Mrs. Ream was a long-standing member of the Thayer Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, Fidelis Club, Shady Oaks Advisory Board, Mammoth Spring Literacy Association and the American Foundation for Vision Awareness and was recognized as Thayer’s Citizen of the Year.

Geri enjoyed traveling, reading and playing bridge with her friends, but most of all she loved her family and treasured time they shared together.

She will truly be missed by all.

Funeral Services will be Friday, December 20, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with Brother Bill Bales officiating. The family will receive friends at the Chapel in Thayer on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Burial will be in the Thayer Cemetery with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory, to the Thayer Fun & Friends or Shady Oaks Activity Center.

Euda (Wales) Russell was born the daughter of Frank Wales and Allie (Janes) Wales on May 14, 1923 in Thayer, Missouri and departed this life December 5, 2013 in West Plains, Missouri at the age of 90 years.

She was united in marriage on June 3, 1941, to George Griffin, who preceded her in death in May, 1943. To this union a daughter, Jo Ann was born.

On December 12, 1949, she was married to Olen Russell.

She is survived by her husband, Olen of the home in Thayer; Missouri; one daughter, Jo Ann Head and husband, Rodger of Springfield, Missouri; two step grandchildren, Eraka Kimker and husband, Steve, and Derick Head and wife, Sharon; three step great grandchildren, Emali Price and husband, Matt, Zachary Kimker, and Connor Head; and her feline companion of seventeen years, Sheba; a host of other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Allie Wales; her first husband, George Griffin, one brother, Alvin Wales; four sisters, Arkie Grooms, Fay Gregory, Hila Strain, and infant, Eula Wales.

Euda enjoyed helping her dad in the fields as she was growing up. She pieced her first quilt at age thirteen. She and Olen spent the last sixty-four years living and working on a farm where, at one time they milked over forty head of cows and, she named each one. She was employed for a short time at the garment factory in Thayer.

Her hobbies were varied from raising exotic birds to making Barbie clothes. She had a green thumb and could grow most any kind of flowers; her passion was iris and African violets. She hand-pieced a multitude of quilts and gave most of them to family and friends. She was a hard worker all her life but now, at rest with her Heavenly Father.

She was saved and baptized at an early age and was of the Baptist faith. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, neighbor and friend. She will truly be missed by all.

Funeral services for Mrs. Russell will be at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri with Brother Bill Bales officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home in Thayer from 1:00 until service time.

Burial will be in the Thayer Cemetery in Thayer, Missouri with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.

Larry Allen Bechtel, the son of Ralph William Bechtel and Emma Mae (Lawson) Bechtel, was born July 20, 1948 in Doniphan, Missouri, and departed this life November 16, 2013 in West Plains, Missouri at the age of 65 years.

He was united in marriage on May 14, 1967 in Thayer, Missouri to Lois Melton.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Bechtel of the home in Thayer, Missouri; one son, Billy Bechtel of Jamestown, Missouri; one daughter, Stacy Olbricht and husband, Keith of Paintsville, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Brianne and Brendan Bechtel; and Benjamin, Kaitlyn, Shelby and Emma Jean Olbricht; one sister, Beth Lawson of Knoxville, Tennesse; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Emma Mae Bechtel.

Larry was a Vietnam Veteran, earning several medals while proudly serving his country in the United States Navy. After returning from military service, he was employed at SEI in West Plains, Missouri, retiring after twenty-six years of service.

He and his wife, Lois, shared in the enjoyment of being outdoors, working in both their flower and vegetable gardens. Soon this passion turned into the well-known Bechtel Nursery, which they owned and operated for twenty years.

Larry also loved fishing, hunting and most of all, spoiling his grandkids.

He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather, a kind and caring brother, and a loyal friend. Larry will truly be missed by all who knew him.

Memorial Services will be Thursday, November 21, 2013 at 7:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until service time. Services will be under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer

Verdie Jo (Brewer) James Plympton was born the daughter of Mose Brewer and Bernice (Clark) Brewer on May 27, 1922 in Myrtle, Missouri, and departed this life November 13, 2013 in Hollister, Missouri at the age of 91 years.

She was united in marriage on June 21, 1947 in Los Angeles, California to Charles L. James who preceded her in death on May 16, 1976. She was united in marriage in Forsyth, Missouri to Edgar Plympton who preceded her in death on March 16, 1995.

She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Chapman and husband, Bob of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Debra Salmon of Hollister, Missouri; five grandsons, Christopher and Matthew Thomas, both of Ventura, California, Billy Thomas of San Diego, California, Eric Salmon of Hollister, Missouri, and Vance Salmon and wife, Penny of Springfield, Missouri; one granddaughter, Andrea Stegeman and husband, Jay of Estes Park, Colorado; three great grandchildren, Alexis, Nicole, and Jack; two sisters, June Harpole of St. Louis, Missouri, and Jessa Nell Powell and husband, Tom of Thayer, Missouri; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mose and Bernice Brewer; her husbands, Charles James and Edgar Plympton; and two sisters, Geraldine Wiley and Linda Brewer.

Verdie was a proud homemaker who loved and cared deeply for her family and friends. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxilliary in Forsyth, Missouri, and enjoyed bowling and playing shuffleboard.

She was a Christian lady of the Baptist faith and will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, a wonderful sister, a kind and caring aunt, and a true friend. She will truly be missed by all who knew her.

Graveside Services for Mrs. Plympton will be held Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at the Thayer Cemetery in Thayer, Missouri with Brother Darrell Mitchell officiating.

Mrs. Plympton’s body will Lie-In-State at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer on Monday, November 18th from 9:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M.

Burial will be in the Thayer Cemetery in Thayer, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society and may be left at the Funeral Home.

Evelyn Lorene (Smith) Rolen was born the daughter of Thomas “Tommy” Smith and Edith (Geib) Smith on May 16, 1934, in Lunsford, Arkansas, and departed this life November 12, 2013, at Fulton County Hospital in Salem, Arkansas, at the age of 79 years.

She was united in marriage on December 27, 1952, in Oregon County, Missouri, to Charles Franklin Rolen, who preceded her in death on September 27, 1989.

She is survived by six children, Jerry Rolen of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, Linda Powell and husband, William of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, Donald Rolen and wife, Linda of Sterling, Illinois, Dennis Rolen and wife, Theresa of Easton, Kansas, Carl Rolen of West Plains, Missouri, and Debra Berry and husband, Robert of Cave City, Arkansas; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two infant children, Joyce Ann Rolen and Karen Sue Rolen; three sisters, Goldie Wood-Johnson, Velma (Meyers) Phillips, and Lucille Price; two brothers, Harvey Smith and Avery Smith; and infant twin siblings.

Lorene was a homemaker and an amazing cook, specializing in family dinners, pies and biscuits. She also enjoyed gardening, yardwork, molding and painting ceramics, and wood carving. She could do about any thing to which she set her mind, including building a fence or small engine repair.

Lorene was a member of the Church of Christ and a member of the Mammoth Spring VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

She will be remembered as a kind and caring lady with a deep devotion to her family. She will truly be missed by her family and many friends.

Memorial services will be Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until time of the service.
