Alvin Richard “Short” Bittick, 72, of Pomona, Missouri passed away on Friday, January 4, 2013.

Alvin was born in Topaz, Missouri to Sim Bittick and Mary C. (Loomis) Bittick on February 24, 1940. He graduated from Cabool High School in 1958. He was married to Betty Louise Wake on April 16, 1967. They were married for 45 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Wayne, Audie, and Merle; three sisters, Doris, Dorothy, and Verla.

Alvin is survived by his wife, Betty, of the family home; his children, Patricia Rees and husband, Rick, of Willow Springs, Cindy Girdley and husband, Joe, of West Plains, Scott Bittick of Pomona, and Gary Bittick and wife, Chelsea of Pomona; like a son, Don Eddie Wheat; his sister, Versal Rogers and husband, Charles, and son, Eddie and daughter, Shari Brame of Mountain Grove; seven grandchildren, Sgt. Andy Bittick and wife, Amber, Jenny Green and husband, Dustin, Charlie Bittick, Richard Girdley, Harleigh Bittick, Zoe Shrubb, and Cooper Bittick, and two great grandchildren, Carlie Green and Kailee Green, and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Howell County, Missouri at 11:00 a.m., under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains, Missouri.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home Chapel, West Plains.

Memorial contribitions may be made to Riverways Hospice and can be left at the funeral home.

Burial will be held at Ararat Cemetery.

    Yes, I remember Alvin. He was just always there in the community doing whatever we all were doing………back in the day…… He was active in the 4-H club, which was probably our main social event of the month, other than Sunday church. Just a couple of years behind me in high school, I would have seen him there regularly, too. I remember Wayne & Audie also. Hello to Versal. I am sorry for your loss; prayers.
