Funeral services for Tony H. Risner, 86, will be held on Monday, April 14, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church Chapel, West Plains. Burial will be held at Howell Memorial Park Cemetery, Howell County, Missouri. There will be a short visitation starting at 1:30 p.m. before the service.
Tony H. Risner, son of the late Edgar Ray Risner and Willie Mae Fernimen Risner, was born February 19, 1928 in Myrtle, Missouri and died April 10, 2014 at the age of 86 years old.
He was married to Betty Anderson and to this union two sons were born, Michael and Steven. In September 1971 he married Sue Schlag, and to this union one daughter, Lisa, was born.
He is survived by his wife of the family home; two children, Michael Risner and wife, Lynette, Riverside, California, and Steven Risner and wife, Angela, Norco, California; three grandchildren, Rachel Risner, Riverside, California, Sarah Waters and husband, Dustin, Riverside, California, and Tiffany Risner, New York.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Lisa Risner, and three sisters, Bernice Cantrell, Mildred Bell, and Genevieve Johnson.
He was an avid gardener. He never gave up on anything. Whatever he started he saw it through until it was finished. He loved Irish music and dancing, especially the groups, Celtic Thunder and Riverdance. He also had a love for country music. He was a great technician in the computer world. He was a rescuer of a stray dog that he took in. It took almost a year to win his trust, but he accomplished that too. He was a beloved, kind, and wonderful husband, loving father and grandfather, and a generous man to many people.
