Bernice Margaret Heier was born on January 9, 1922, the daughter of Marberry Black Burnes and Margaret Viola Swanner Burnes and died October 26, 2021 in Lampe, Missouri at the age of 99 years.
She is survived by 21 nieces and nephews, Dr. Jimmy Ed Burnes of Goodlettsville, TN, Alvin Burnes of Wilson, OK, Danny Burnes of Wichita Falls, TX, “MR” Burnes Jr. of West Plains, MO, Ganine Viola “Missy” Magnus of LA, CA, Stella Tracy Altman of Gassville, AR, Jamie Pauline Shatswell of Carthage, MO, Bernice Kathleen Wood of Summit, AR, Rocky John Burnes of Lampe, MO, Richard Burnes of Alexandra, LA, Mariola Gottard of Tracy, CA, Nella Jean White of Jackson MS, Nancy Doris Myers of Novato, CA, Ida Winona of Denton, AL, Eula Grey Tally of Alexandria, LA, Lucky Martha Stradly of Nebraska, Debbie, Glenda of Naples, IL, Keith Underwood and Marion Palvick Burnes of Cookwill, TN, Margaret Judith Ann Sparkmana of Chasawitski, FL; other relatives; and many friends.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, Marberry and Margaret Burnes; her son, Vernon Leon Heier; five brothers, James Paul Burnes, David Roy Burnes, Chester Link Burnes, Marberry Ross Burnes and Collen Colonel Burnes; three sisters, Mary Gray, Sara Virginia Whittenberg and Christine Viola Enner, and niece Sharron Francis Deorhoff;
She loved to cook and was most noted for her ham, turkey and coleslaw.
Bernice was very involved in the Royal Rangers and Missionettes at her church and even helped organize them at other churches. She was also involved in the VA Ladies Auxiliary.
She was a christian and a member of His Place House of Worship in West Plains, MO. Bernice was known to say that the only reason she lived so long was to tell people about her Lord and Savior.
Bernice will truly be missed by her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 3:00p.m. at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in West Plains, Missouri with Greg Worley officiating.
The family will receive friends on Friday October 29, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home in West Plains Missouri.
Burial will be on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Oak Lawn Cemetery in West Plains, Missouri with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in West Plains, Missouri.
