Peggy Jean (Gray) Boyd was born the daughter of Herman Gray and Velma (Gallyon) Gray on December 17, 1929, in Higgins, Texas, and departed this life on March 30, 2014, in West Plains, Missouri, at the age of 84 years.

She was united in marriage on June 20, 1963 at Winnemucca, Nevada, to Osker Cleatis Boyd.

She is survived by her husband of fifty years, Osker Boyd of Thayer, Missouri; children, Tammy Lynn Dorton of Thayer, Missouri, Gary Neal Boyd and wife, Becky of Florida, Ann Bonser and husband, Bill of Oregon, Jack Boyd and wife, Kathy of Oklahoma, and Mike Boyd and wife, Penny of Texas; grandchildren, Becky Dye and husband, Bill of Minnesota, Billy Bonser and wife, Linda of Oregon, Brenda Schwartz and husband, Tim of Minnesota, Jackie Francis and husband, Clay of Texas, Trenton Boyd and wife, Mendy of Texas, Ruth Dorton of Thayer, Missouri, Gregory, Ryan, Patrick, and Aaron Boyd, all of Florida; a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sister, Jacquita Ann Hoover and husband, Dean of California; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Herman Gray and mother, Velma Skough and husband, Evret; one grandson, Robert Boyd; and brother, Herman Gray, Jr.

Peggy was employed as a legal secretary for many years. She enjoyed reading, sewing, knitting and crochet needlework in her pastime.

Peggy was a member of the Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church and will be remembered as a kind and caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will truly be missed.

Graveside Services will be Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at 3:30 PM at the Pleasant Hill/Arytown Cemetery near Thayer with Leo Warren officiating.

The body will lie in state at the Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer on Tuesday, April 1st from 1:00 until 7:00 PM.

Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill/Arytown Cemetery near Thayer, with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory, to the American Red Cross and left at the funeral home.
