James Roe

James “JL” Leonard Roe was born the son of Leonard Lee Roe and Mary (Yates) Roe on January 19, 1938 in Longview, Texas and departed this life August 27, 2012 at Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains, Missouri at the age of 74 years.

He was united in marriage in Tyler, Texas to Martha Camp, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by three sons, James Anthony Roe and wife, Jennifer of Alton, Missouri, Paul Leonard Roe and wife, Tracie of Myrtle, Missouri and Billy Don Camp and wife, Lisa of Bay, Arkansas; three daughters, Paula Ann Kawaski of Jacksonville, Texas, Wanda Stottle and husband, Tom of Pilot Point, Texas and Michelle Evonne and husband, Jimmy of Flagstaff, Arizona; three brothers, Russell Roe and wife, Linda of Gladewater, Texas, Dewayne Roe and wife, Lily of Palestine, Texas and Gerald Roe and wife, Linda of Gladewater, Texas; four sisters, Alice Nolan and husband, Carl of White Oak, Texas, Melba Maxwell of Gilmer, Texas, Kathy Lee and husband, of Oregon and Marie Walls of Longview, Texas; twenty grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Mary Roe; his wife, Martha Roe and six brothers and sisters.

“JL”, as he was known to family and friends, was a carpenter, working as a roofer in the construction business. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He will be remembered as a good carpenter, a great dad and grandpa.

He was of the Assembly of God faith and will truly be missed by his family and friends.

Funeral Services will be Thursday, August 30, 2012 at 12:00 noon in the Carter Funeral Home Chapel at Thayer, with C.L. Stage officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Thursday morning from 8:00 AM until the time of the service.
