Delphia Leta Oakes Case was born the daughter of Arthur J. Oakes and Myrtle Lee Wicker Oakes on August 16, 1933, in Hardy, Arkansas, and departed this life on November 4, 2016, near Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, at the age of 83 years.
She was united in marriage in October of 1957, at Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, to Harlin Lonzo Case, who joined her in death on November 4, 2016.
She is survived by three brothers, Jerry Douglas Oakes and Arthur Jackson Oakes, both of Thayer, Missouri, and Melburn Eugene Oakes of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Myrtle Oakes; and one brother, Delbert Lee Oakes.
Leta was a newspaper typeset operator, working many years for The Thayer News and Printing Office in Thayer, Missouri. She also was a talented seamstress and was creative with her beautiful needlework.
She was a Christian and a member of the Old Town Church of Christ in Hardy, Arkansas.
Harlin and Leta had been happily married for fifty-nine years, always sharing their love and time together. They loved children, enjoyed attending auctions and spending time with friends at the Cabin Creek Community Center. She liked growing and caring for her flowers, enjoyed good music, visiting with friends, and spending time with family. She will truly be missed by her family, friends, and the community in which they lived.
Funeral services for Harlin and Leta Case will be Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at 1:00 PM in the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri, with Don House officiating.
The family will receive friends Monday, November 7, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will be in Hurst Cemetery at Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home in Thayer.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in their memory to the Paragould Children’s Home and may be left at Carter Funeral Home in Thayer.
