Aument Otto Deckard was born the son of Ray Deckard and Susie (Snyder) Deckard on September 27, 1938, in Oregon County, Missouri, and departed this life on February 8, 2016, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 77 years.
He was united in marriage on December 15, 1956, at Hernando, Mississippi, to Dorice Iva Ehrhardt, who preceded him in death on November 24, 2004.
He is survived by three children, Dennis Foulks and wife, Angie of Alton, Missouri, Lynn Coates of Alton, and Terry Deckard and wife, Connie of Topeka, Kansas; four grandchildren, Timothy Deckard, Ryan Deckard, Tracy Bridges, and Amanda Osborn; ten great-grandchildren, Rydan, Presley, Peyton, Austin, Braden, Bradley, Desmin, McKylie, Jase, and Garret; four brothers, Harlin Deckard and wife, Glenda, Loyd Deckard, Wayne Deckard and wife, Barbara, and Glen Deckard, all of Alton; three sisters, Wilma Vest of Oran, Missouri, Beulah Metz and Mary Ellen Deckard, both of Alton; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Susie Deckard; his wife, Iva Deckard; one son, Dwight Edward Foulks; one grandson, Travis Coates; one infant great-grandson; one brother, Elmer Deckard, and an infant brother, Franklin Deckard.
Otto worked for the Alton School District as a school bus driver and part-time bus mechanic for many years. He did some carpentry work and especially enjoyed woodworking. Otto was taught to give his best on a job and appreciated the rewards from a day of hard work.
He was of the Free Will Baptist faith, and will be remembered as a devoted husband and father, good friend, and caring neighbor. He will truly be missed by all.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 11, 2016, at 2:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri.
Burial will be in the Bailey Cemetery near Alton, Missouri, with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.

You will forever hold a special place in my heart. Thank you for always treating me not as your grandson’s wife, but also as your granddaughter. You were an amazing grandpa and great-grandpa. Our lives will never be the same without you.
