Charles Richard Willis was born the son of Hugh B. Willis and Regina M. (Merrow) Willis on June 22, 1937, in Davenport, Iowa and departed this life November 23, 2014, in Salem, Arkansas at the age of 77 years.
He was united in marriage on November 19, 1955, in Davenport, Iowa to Deloris June Hartson, who preceded him in death on April 14, 2006.
He is survived by five children, Michael Willis of Myrtle, Missouri, Russell Willis and wife, Kimela of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Katrina Vermillion of Richmond, Virginia, Peter Willis and wife, Tonya of Lawrenceville, Georgia and Kellie McCarthy of Poinciana, Flordia; sixteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Regina Willis; his wife, Deloris June Willis; one son, Jeffery Willis; three brothers and one sister.
Mr. Willis was a Veteran, serving his country in the United States Navy.
He was an operations manager in charge of maintenance, housekeeping, and grounds for a California Public School System and later for a Retirement Home in the State of Florida.
Richard enjoyed tinkering and working on small household appliances and was a ham radio operator.
Mr. Willis was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in West Plains, Missouri.
He was a kind and caring man and will truly be missed by his family and his friends, including those at Southfork River Therapy and Living Center.
Funeral Services will be Friday, November 28, 2014, at 10:00 AM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri with Father Michael Kyle officiating.
The family will receive friends Friday morning, November 28th from 9:00 AM until time of the service, at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer.
Burial will be in the Myrtle Cemetery at Myrtle, Missouri with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.
