Vida Opal Combs was born the daughter of Jasper Nuten Doran and Ava Alabam (Dale) Doran on March 10, 1922, in Jobe, Missouri and departed this life October 20, 2014, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 92 years.
She was united in marriage December 24, 1938, at Thayer, Missouri to Noah John James Combs, who preceded her in death on April 1, 1995.
She is survived by three children, Linda (Combs) Darnell of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, Jerry Wayne Combs of Thayer, Missouri, and Kathy Colman and husband, Kenneth of Mountain Home, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Cindy Gass, Christi Brown, and Michael Scudder, all of California, and Tina Biery of Colorado; five great grandchildren, Ashley and Travis Brown of California, Chelsea Huckabee of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Devon and Kyle Biery of Colorado; one great great grandchild, Ava Katheryn Huckabee of Fayetteville, Arkansas; one sister, Velma Schwent and husband, Bernell of Bonne Terre, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jasper and Ava Doran; her husband, Noah Combs; and seven brothers, Alfred, Waymon, Leamon, Clifton, Clinton, Orville, and Paul Doran..
Vida had been a housekeeper for the El Dorado Country Club in Palm Springs, California for several years.
She enjoyed taking care of her cats, sewing, and playing games with her family and friends.
Mrs. Combs was of the Baptist faith and will be remembered as a kind and caring lady with a deep devotion to her family. She will truly be missed by her family and friends.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, October 23, 2014, at 2:00 PM in the Carter Funeral Home Chapel at Thayer with Brother Jason Roberts officiating.
Burial will be in the Thayer Cemetery with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.
