Richard Leath Robinson was born the son of Charles Lee Robinson and Mary Ann (Nebura) Robinson on September 24, 1924, in Downs, Kansas, and departed this life on March 12, 2014, at Shady Oaks Healthcare Center in Thayer, Missouri, at the age of 89 years.

He was united in marriage at Clifton Free Will Baptist Church, near Thayer, Missouri in 1991, to Edith (Bates) Summers.

He is survived by his wife, Edith Robinson of the home in Thayer; one daughter, Barbara Robinson-Driggs; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; six step-children, James, Mary, Shirley, Jean, Ella, and Mark; two brothers, Lewis L. Robinson and Wyndell Robinson; two sisters, Augusta Linson and Barbara Woodward; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary Ann Robinson; and one sister, Betty Lue Robinson.

Richard was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving his country in New Guinea and the Philippine Islands during World War II. He was awarded three bronze stars, the Good Conduct Medal, and The Purple Heart.

He worked hard; most of his life in the sawmill. He enjoyed playing solitaire, reading westerns, doing word searches, and working with Edith in their garden.

He was a member of Clifton Free Will Baptist Church and will be remembered as a loving and caring husband and a loyal friend. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services for Mr. Robinson will be held Friday, March 14, 2014, at 10:00 AM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri with Pastor James Lee Reed officiating.

He will Lie-In-State at the Funeral Home in Thayer on Thursday evening, March 13th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM.

Burial and Military Funeral Honors will be in the Norman Cemetery, north of Thayer with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.
