Virgil Loyd Collins, 90 of Pomona, Missouri went to his heavenly home on December 10, 2022. He was born June 20, 1932, in Wirth, Arkansas to Lewis and Lucille (Pendarvis) Collins.
He was a veteran and proudly served in the United States Navy for twenty-one years as a Radioman. He met his wife of 66 years in New York City while serving in the Navy. He served from 1951 to 1972. He was in the Korean and Vietnam war.
When he retired from the Navy, he moved his family back to Mammoth Spring, Arkansas. There he did many jobs like owning a TV repair shop, delivering mail, driving a school bus and delivering fish to many area restaurants.
He really enjoyed fishing, hunting and the outdoors. Especially with his grandson, Steven.
He was of the Baptist faith, loved reading and studying the Bible. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife Johanna of the home; two daughters Karen Collins, Pomona and Dorothy Ashbrook, Pomona.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Robert and Floyd Collins; two sisters Sylvia Collins and Goldie McCradic; and one grandson Steven Vaughn.
Funeral services for Virgil Loyd Collins, age 90, of Pomona, Missouri, will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri. Visitation will be Wednesday December 14, at 1:00 p.m. until time of service.
Interment will be on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, in Flint Cemetery, Mammoth Spring, Arkansas with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer, Missouri.

So sorry to hear about Virgil passing away. He and my late husband, Jessie were long time friends. For years we met with Virgil and Joan on the guy’s birthdays. Good memories.

Great memories of fun and laughs with Virgil. Playing cards with me, my brother Jack and Junior McCradic, watching boxing on pay per view, and talking about the world at Uncle Fred Davis’ gas station.
