William H. “Bill” Crews, Jr. was born the son of William Homer Crews, Sr. and Ruby (Perkins) Crews on September 23, 1927, in Thayer, Missouri, and died April 24, 2017, in Thayer, Missouri, at the age of 89 years.

He was united in marriage on July 16, 1951, at Pocahontas, Arkansas, to Dorothy Marie Farrell, who preceded him in death on April 17, 2010.

He is survived by six children, Michael E. Crews of Thayer, Missouri, Mark Crews and wife, Cindy of Fair Grove, Missouri, Matt Crews of Fair Grove, Melinda Collins and husband, Billy of Loudon, Tennessee, Melissa Webber and husband, Billy of Thayer, and Martin Crews and wife, Leigh Ann of Thayer; twenty-six grandchildren, Anna, Michelle, Lisa, William, Nick, TJ, Monica, Heath, Cassie, Cameron, Cody, Carter, Maddy, BJ, Holly, Miranda, Mitch, Marissa, Abbi, Katie, Becca, Clara, Dorothy, Nora, Ella, and Martha; twenty-one great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William H., Sr. and Ruby Crews; his wife, Dorothy Crews; his step-mother, Tressie (Woods) Crews; one son, Monte Crews; and two great-grandchildren.

Bill’s vocational endeavors include: auctioneer, restaurant owner, cattleman, and livestock hauler.

He enjoyed pheasant hunting in South Dakota, quail hunting, attending cattle auctions, and was an avid reader.

He will be missed by his family and many friends

Graveside services will be held, Friday April 28, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Howell Cemetery, near Thayer.

The body will lie in state at the funeral home on Thursday, April 27th from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM.

Services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc in Thayer.

    I’m sorry for your loss. I remember Your Dad from when I was just a boy, you all lived just down the street on hwy WW north of Springfield. Matt and I went to school together. Sending the family prayers. Take care
